Sword Souls are spiritual remnants connected to ancient swords and Sword Cultivators. They retain Sword Intent, attributes, and—in some cases—lingering will or consciousness. Ancient swords in the Myriad Sword Cave each contain a Sword Soul, while Sword Soul Origins act as larger sources capable of nourishing, repairing, or awakening many Sword Souls at once 48 49.

The Blood Fiend Hall sought to refine these souls into demonic power, prompting Ling Yun and his allies to fight for their preservation 49 55. The Sky-Rending Sword's awakening enabled it to summon, purify, and unite nearby Sword Souls against demonic arrays 48.

The destruction of the Demon Sacrificial Altar freed trapped Sword Souls, while the subsequent battle in the Soul Crystal Hall allowed Ling Yun to absorb multiple Sword Soul origins into the Heaven and Earth Sword Box.
