Background / History
Seclusion in Holy Soul Village
Tang Hao spent six years raising Tang San in Holy Soul Village while working as a blacksmith. His daily life revolved around drinking, sleeping, forging, and long periods of silence. Behind this withdrawn existence was the famed Clear Sky Douluo, described as the youngest Titled Douluo to shake the continent 3 23.
Ah Yin’s death remained the source of his grief and hatred toward Spirit Hall. He blamed the organization for driving her to her death and destroying his life, recalling how Qian Xunji and Spirit Hall’s followers had surrounded her. Ah Yin sacrificed herself to save Tang San 21 22.
Tang San’s Awakening
Seeing Tang San’s Blue Silver Grass brought back painful memories of Ah Yin. When Tang San revealed his second Martial Soul, the Clear Sky Hammer, Tang Hao’s grief gave way to excitement: his son possessed both parents’ inherited Martial Souls, renewing his hope of revenge 3.
Tang San’s account of Su Chen’s awakening immediately tempered that optimism. Tang Hao recognized innate level-twenty Soul Power and a god-level dragon Martial Soul as signs of a force capable of overturning the continent’s balance. He ordered Tang San to conceal his second Martial Soul and avoid making Su Chen an enemy without certainty 3.
Attack on Dorm Seven
After Tang San returned from the Soul Hunting Forest with damaged Blue Silver Grass and a ten-year first Soul Ring, Tang Hao blamed Su Chen for taking the Mandala Snake intended for his son. Attacking secretly from the academy’s back hill, he directed his Divine Slaughter’s Domain toward Dorm Seven, intending to crush Su Chen’s soul and meridians 20 21.
Su Chen’s Chaos Ancestral Dragon and newly fused Ancestral Dragon Reverse Scale responded with divine power. The resulting pressure shattered Tang Hao’s domain, forced his Clear Sky Hammer into submission, and severely wounded him. Fearing consequences for both himself and Tang San, he retreated 21 22.
Punishment of Yu Xiaogang
Tang Hao next confronted Yu Xiaogang over abandoning Tang San in the forest and forcing him to absorb a dying Deadwood Vine’s ten-year Soul Ring. Yu’s attempt to invoke Bibi Dong and Spirit Hall intensified Tang Hao’s anger rather than protecting him 22.
Tang Hao crushed both of Yu’s knees and nearly strangled him. He stopped short of killing him because a sudden death could attract Spirit Hall and Heaven Dou Empire scrutiny, exposing Tang San’s Twin Martial Souls. He ordered Yu to remain alive as cover for Tang San and threatened to wipe out his clan if he used the boy as an experimental subject again 22.
Secret Forging Lesson
Tang Hao later found Tang San forging in a secluded Nuoding City smithy despite a fractured arm and damaged meridians. He corrected his son’s reliance on brute force and demonstrated the force-generation principle behind the Disorder Splitting Wind Hammer 23.
Before leaving, he supplied Gold Soul Coins and a Bone-Setting and Meridian-Mending remedy. The lesson let Tang San forge faster with less strain, enabling him to complete a refined-iron Sleeve Arrow armed with three venom-coated bolts. Tang Hao departed to suppress his grave injuries and avoid drawing Spirit Hall’s watchers to his son 23.
Appearance
Tang Hao is a burly, weathered middle-aged man whose neglected appearance conceals his identity as a renowned Titled Douluo 3.
- Face: Stubbled, with weary, sunken eyes 3 21.
- Hair: Tangled gray-white hair spilling over his shoulders 21 22.
- Clothing: Ragged garments in Holy Soul Village and a tattered black robe during his movements around Nuoding Academy 3 21 22.
- Hands: Broad, rough, and calloused from forging 3 23.
Personality
Tang Hao’s habitual silence and drinking make him appear emotionally distant. Nevertheless, Tang San’s inherited Martial Souls, suffering, and resemblance to Ah Yin provoke powerful reactions. His later visit to the smithy reveals tenderness through practical care: instruction, medicine, and financial support rather than a full explanation of his circumstances 3 23.
His protectiveness can become indiscriminate violence. Although he initially counsels caution toward Su Chen, he later attacks the six-year-old from hiding and brutally punishes Yu Xiaogang. He retains enough restraint to retreat from an unwinnable confrontation and spare Yu when killing him would endanger Tang San’s secrecy 3 21 22.
Abilities & Skills
Clear Sky Hammer
- Tang Hao possesses the Clear Sky Hammer, identified as the inherited Martial Soul of the Clear Sky Sect 3 21.
- Its power does not protect him from Su Chen’s divine-rank suppression; the hammer wails in submission during their confrontation 21 22.
Divine Slaughter’s Domain
- Projects concentrated killing intent and crushing pressure across the distance between the academy’s back hill and Dorm Seven 20 21.
- His level-ninety-five pressure is described as sufficient to grind a Soul Saint to death 21.
- Su Chen’s Chaos Ancestral Dragon forcibly shatters the domain and injures its user 21 22.
Forging and Disorder Splitting Wind Hammer
- Generates force from the calves, rotates it through the waist and hips, and channels it through the arm into the hammer 23.
- Demonstrates the method with a hundred-pound hammer, driving half the impurities from a heated iron billet in one blow 23.
- Teaches Tang San the core force-generation principle, but not the full eighty-one strikes of the Chaotic Cloak 23.
- The instruction allows Tang San to forge effectively with his remaining usable arm without exhausting his vitality 23.
Physical Limitations
- Carries old wounds that he has suppressed for years; Su Chen’s attack causes them to spiral out of control 22.
- His rage during the confrontation with Yu Xiaogang aggravates those injuries and makes him bleed from the mouth 22.
- Must leave Tang San’s smithy to find somewhere to suppress his grave injuries 23.
Relationships
- Tang San — Son and protected heir. Tang Hao guards the secret of his Twin Martial Souls, retaliates against those he blames for his injuries, and secretly teaches him forging 3 21 22 23.
- Ah Yin — Tang San’s mother and the focus of Tang Hao’s enduring grief. Her sacrifice drives his hatred of Spirit Hall and his determination to protect their child 3 21 22.
- Su Chen — Initially regarded as a prodigy Tang San should avoid provoking; later targeted for retaliation. Su Chen defeats him and forces his retreat 3 21.
- Yu Xiaogang — Tang San’s teacher, whom Tang Hao condemns for negligence and exploitation. He cripples Yu but keeps him alive to shield Tang San from scrutiny 22.
- Spirit Hall — Enemy organization blamed for Ah Yin’s death. Its surveillance constrains Tang Hao’s movements and his ability to remain with Tang San 22 23.
