Appearance
The dragon is a massive, heavily armored beast over six meters long, weighing thousands of pounds 14 15.
- Scales: Dark-purple dragon scales several inches thick cover its body 14.
- Horn: A spiral horn resembling blood-red crystal rises from the center of its head. Ancient dragon markings cover it, while purple-red electrical arcs and dark-red flames gather around its tip 14.
- Eyes: Dark gold 14.
- Limbs: Pillar-like legs and metallic-looking dark-purple claws; its footsteps leave smoking, charred pits 14 15.
- Tail: Covered in barbed bone armor 14.
Personality
The dragon reacts violently to attacks and perceived challenges. Luo Sanpao’s assault enrages it, and Tang San’s steel weapons striking its face provoke a killing stomp 14 15.
Its aggression can override instinctive fear. Despite recognizing Su Chen’s superior ancestral-dragon bloodline and being knocked through numerous trees, it attacks again under the influence of rage and bloodlust 15.
Abilities & Skills
Physical Strength and Armored Defense
Its three-thousand-year cultivation places it at a level comparable to a peak human Soul Elder, with enough combat strength to fight an ordinary Soul Ancestor head-on 14.
- A single tail strike destroys Luo Sanpao, causing severe backlash to Yu Xiaogang and shattering his two yellow Soul Rings 14.
- Tang San’s ordinary steel needles and arrows snap against its scales without penetrating them 15.
- Its claw strikes and stomps blast apart the ground; even a narrowly avoided attack throws Tang San into a broken tree stump 15.
Dragonfire
Scorching dragonfire surrounds its body and accompanies its attacks 14 15.
- Burns away Luo Sanpao’s foul-smelling blast before the tail strike lands 14.
- Blocks Tang San and Yu Xiaogang’s escape 14.
- Instantly reduces Tang San’s unenhanced Blue Silver Grass bindings to ash 15.
Blood-Crystal Horn and Lightning
The spiral horn combines piercing strength with destructive lightning 15 16.
- Can pierce refined iron with ease 16.
- Releases purple-red lightning that spreads across the dragon’s body during its renewed charge at Su Chen 15.
- Is not indestructible: Su Chen crushes it with his dragon claw 16.
Bloodline Vulnerability
Its true-dragon ancestry leaves it susceptible to suppression by Su Chen’s Chaos Ancestral Dragon 15 16.
- Su Chen’s presence causes instinctive terror despite the beast’s continued aggression 15.
- His dragon roar makes its body rigid and reduces its charging momentum by thirty percent 16.
- Its remnant soul cannot withstand the Ancestral Dragon’s pure-yang fire during Soul Ring absorption 16.
Story Role / Major Arcs
Misidentification and Yu Xiaogang’s Retreat
The dragon emerges from the forest during Yu Xiaogang and Tang San’s Mandala Snake hunt. Yu Xiaogang mistakes it for a five-hundred-year-old mutated Thick-Armored Crocodile and orders Luo Sanpao to attack. Only after the dragon destroys his Martial Soul does he recognize its blood-crystal horn, dragon markings, and three-thousand-year cultivation 14.
With the dragon blocking their escape, Yu Xiaogang flees and leaves Tang San behind. The abandonment becomes a decisive source of Tang San’s hatred toward his teacher 14 18.
Tang San’s Defeat
Tang San attempts to survive through Ghost Shadow Perplexing Track, Blue Silver Grass bindings, and poisoned hidden weapons. His movement only delays the attacks, his grass burns away, and his steel weapons break against the dragon’s armor. As the beast prepares to crush him, Su Chen intervenes and sends it flying with one barehanded strike 15.
Death and First Soul Ring
The dragon charges Su Chen again with lightning coursing over its body. Su Chen suppresses its bloodline, crushes its horn, swings it into a rock wall, and delivers a killing stomp that shatters its consciousness and life force. The finishing fight lasts fewer than ten breaths 16.
Soul Ring Legacy
| Feature | Details |
|---|---|
| Age and color | A 3,000-year, deep-purple Soul Ring 16 |
| Recipient | Su Chen, as his First Soul Ring 16 |
| Absorption hazard | Violent dragon energy and a hostile remnant soul; the energy is powerful enough to destroy a Soul Grandmaster’s meridians 16 |
| Absorption outcome | Su Chen’s divine-grade Soul Power and Chaos Ancestral Dragon Art subdue the energy; ancestral pure-yang fire annihilates the remnant soul 16 |
| Retained characteristics | Thunder-and-flame dragon breath, assimilated into Su Chen’s Dragon Emperor Astral Qi 16 17 |
| Narrative significance | Its successful absorption disproves Yu Xiaogang’s claimed 423-year First Soul Ring limit in Su Chen’s case 16 |
Relationships
- Su Chen — Killer and recipient of its Soul Ring; overwhelms it through physical strength and ancestral-dragon bloodline suppression 15 16.
- Tang San — Nearly kills him after defeating his movement techniques, bindings, and hidden weapons 15.
- Yu Xiaogang — Misidentifies and attacks it, then abandons Tang San after suffering devastating Martial Soul backlash 14.
