A dozen or so girls jogging along a nearby path passed by. Some of them looked over curiously. Lu Qi Zhen and Jahadorei immediately crouched down and hid behind a patch of bushes. Chloe did not understand why they were doing this, but she promptly turned to the running girls with an air of arrogance.
"What are you looking at?" she said haughtily. "A bunch of country bumpkins!"
Several girls spat at Chloe on the spot, then quickened their pace. Chloe made as if to chase after them, but in the end, she merely climbed onto the stone platform surrounding a large tree and waved her hands in a shooing gesture.
Once they had gone, Jahadorei stood back up. "...What kind of person are you? Why would you insult them?"
"Wasn't it to make them leave faster?"
"We're the ones who need to leave fast," Lu Qi Zhen said hurriedly. "They're running around the whole building. They'll be back soon."
"Then where do we go..." Jahadorei said. "My room won't work, and you—"
"My room won't work either. Tulan shares it with me," Lu Qi Zhen explained. "What if she comes back midway and sees you—"
"Want to go to my room?" Chloe tilted her head. "No one's in my room. My sister's next door, but she hardly ever goes back to her bedroom during the day."
Lu Qi Zhen and Jahadorei exchanged a glance, then immediately nodded. "Okay!"
Although the Quicksilver Needles had turned one of the glasshouses on the eastern side into a gym, few of the women on the farm actually liked going there. They were unaccustomed to sweating in a cramped room. Compared with that, running on the grass outside, playing ball, or quietly lying in the sun for a while all made them happier.
