Chapter 1241: Outing
That night, Jahadorei packed her luggage.
She had signed up for Saturday's city science and technology exhibition. She had assumed it would be a same-day trip, but that afternoon, they received another notice: there seemed to be a Campsite specially prepared for teenagers in the same area, with a series of City Hiking Activities running from the afternoon until evening. The teachers had therefore decided to spend the night in the city and take the bus back the next morning.
Jahadorei finished packing quickly. She had already showered that night, so she did not need to bring a change of clothes. She only needed some paper and pens, loose change, a hat, and a water bottle—a small canvas bag was enough to hold everything.
While she packed, Eunice lay on the bed the entire time without saying a word. Jahadorei knew he was awake; he was only pretending to sleep.
"Hey." After the lights went out, Jahadorei could not help calling toward Eunice. "Have you packed your things?"
A faint creak came from the darkness. Eunice seemed to shift slightly, and his voice was quick and cold. "I'm not going."
"You're not going?" Jahadorei sat up at once. She had originally been planning to take Eunice to see the Grand Theater from last time herself if tomorrow's hiking activity turned out to be boring. "Why—"
Before she could finish, Jahadorei suddenly felt a wave of heat. Her face and neck burned rapidly, and the entire room fell silent.
"...Sorry," Jahadorei said softly.
No one answered her in the dark.
"I shouldn't have... I shouldn't have said those things to you," Jahadorei continued, forcing herself to finish. "I shouldn't have said... that you were running around... or anything."
"It has nothing to do with that," Eunice said coldly.
