Urgent notice from the Ministry of Magic:

Lu Yi, a second-year student of Ravenclaw House at Hogwarts, went missing while returning to school via Floo Powder. Anyone with information was asked to contact the school.

The green flames of the Floo Powder were still before his eyes when Lu Yi opened them on damp, soft earth.

His ears rang, his vision blurred, his insides churned, and a faint burning pain lingered in his right hand.

Only after lying there for a long while did Lu Yi struggle to his feet.

He looked around. The light was dim, and towering trees blotted out the sky as far as he could see.

"Is this—the Forbidden Forest?"

Lu Yi wondered, but the humid heat around him was nothing like the Forbidden Forest's perennial chill.

As he puzzled over it, he spotted a boy walking along a shaded path ahead. Without stopping to brush the dirt from his wizard robes, Lu Yi hurried after him.

"Wait!"

The boy stopped and turned at his voice, wariness in his deep-blue eyes.

Just then, something stirred overhead. The boy seemed to sense it and sprang sharply to one side.

Boom!

An explosion sent dirt flying and left a small crater where he had stood.

A piercing bark rang out. A baboon burst from the treetops, heading straight for the boy on the ground.

The boy had nowhere left to dodge. He even drew a dagger, ready to fight to the death.

In the rush of the moment, Lu Yi instinctively reached for his Wand. The instant the thought formed, however, a foot-long "stick" resembling a dead branch appeared in his right hand.

There was no time to ponder what had happened to his Wand. He raised his right hand without hesitation and slashed it down in a fierce arc.

"Diffindo!"

As he spoke the incantation, Lu Yi felt every ounce of strength in his body surge into the Wand.

A scarlet blade of energy poured from its tip and hurtled toward the space before the boy with a shriek that tore through the air.

Thud.

The baboon and Lu Yi hit the ground together, kicking up clouds of dust.

"What—just happened?"

The boy was stunned, but Lu Yi was even more bewildered.

Whenever he had cast spells before, they had either worked or failed. Never had one drained his strength like this.

But darkness swam before Lu Yi's eyes, and he could no longer think through why.

At least the attack didn't miss...

Lu Yi was weak and powerless, and the Wand sank back into his palm. Still, when he saw the boy he had saved approaching with concern on his face, he felt a little reassured.

Just then, the ground before them cracked inch by inch, stopping the boy in his tracks.

Cold mist billowed from the fissure. An enormous flesh maggot poked its head out, its sights fixed on the boy...

We're done for!

That was Lu Yi's last thought before he lost consciousness.

Lu Yi felt as though he had had a strange dream.

In the darkness, a cloud of gray vapor took the shape of an old man who muttered under his breath.

"With sun and moon in hand, I pluck stars from the sky. In all the world, there is none like me..."

The words sounded familiar to Lu Yi, but he could not remember where he had heard them...

"Bei Bei, Yuhao isn't hurt. How is it on your end?"

After checking Huo Yuhao's breathing, Tang Ya looked toward the other unconscious boy, her voice full of worry.

She and Bei Bei had followed because they were worried about Huo Yuhao taking risks. Yet in the brief time they had been apart, he and another boy had been attacked by a Soul Beast.

For two boys of similar age to kill a ten-year Wind Baboon, it must have been a desperate fight.

"Don't worry, Xiao Ya. This kid's fine too. He'll probably be all right after some rest."

Bei Bei stopped probing with his Soul Power. Just then, Lu Yi opened his eyes.

"You're awake?"

"Where am I?"

Lu Yi sat up weakly, his face pale.

"We're on the edge of the Star Dou Great Forest. A Soul Beast attacked you, but don't worry—it's dead."

The Star Dou Great Forest! A Soul Beast!

Fighting through his dizziness, Lu Yi accepted the waterskin Bei Bei offered and took several gulps. Then he fell deep into thought.

He had heard every word the handsome young man and beautiful young woman had said to each other: "Bei Bei," "Xiao Ya," and "Yuhao."

The language they spoke and the clothes they wore were different from those of the wizarding world, too.

There was no doubt about it: he had crossed into another world again. Most likely, he had arrived in another novel he had read two lifetimes ago.

He tried to recall its contents, but a sharp pain stabbed through his head. For now, he gave up and focused his mind between his brows instead.

The next moment, a transparent panel appeared before his eyes.

[Name: Lu Yi] [Title: Apprentice Wizard] [Exclusive Ability: Magic Library] [Spells (Apprentice Level): Select to view mastered spells] [Potions (Beginner Level): Select to view mastered Potions] [Dark Magic and Defense (Apprentice Level): Select to view mastered spells] [Transfiguration (Beginner Level)] [Magic Items: Wand (Soulbound), Handbag (Undetectable Extension Charm)]

Seeing the panel intact, Lu Yi breathed a sigh of relief.

His connection to the wizarding world had been severed, but as long as he had the Magic Library, he could still obtain magical knowledge.

After closing the panel, he noticed a gray bead floating deep within his mind.

He recalled the old man from his dream and the words he had spoken. A name quietly surfaced.

Electrolux!

"All right!"

This was not a bad start. He had gained another powerful old mentor!

This was not Lu Yi's first time crossing into another world. He knew the first thing he had to do was find a way to survive.

Remembering how that rash spell had drained him dry, Lu Yi felt a surge of belated fear.

Luckily, the people he had met were not bad. Otherwise...

Lu Yi fell silent for a few seconds, then braced himself to stand.

But his arms were numb, and weakness nearly sent him tumbling. Bei Bei caught him at once.

"You've exhausted your Soul Power! Would you like to rest a little longer?" Bei Bei asked kindly.

Lu Yi waved a hand to show he was fine.

As for his exhausted Soul Power, he had felt it when he cast the spell.

More than that, ever since arriving here, it seemed as though his magic had been locked in shackles.

"Where's your home? To be honest, we came here for Soul Hunting. Once we're done, we could take you home."

"My home is—" The words caught in Lu Yi's throat. After a pause, he said with a quiet sigh, "I don't have a home in this world."

"I'm sorry. I didn't mean to bring it up!"

Bei Bei apologized repeatedly and hurried to change the subject.

"When I checked your condition just now, I sensed that your Soul Power had reached a bottleneck. I suppose you came here for Soul Hunting too?"

Bei Bei's words reminded Lu Yi of something. Acting on a feeling, he summoned his Wand.

The familiar Wand emerged from his palm as though it were part of his body.

So that's it!

No wonder his right hand had burned when he crossed over. The Wand must have fused with his body.

Lu Yi had no intention of investigating why.

Rather than dwell on a fact he could not change, he needed to consider his next step.

And the shackle restricting him was probably the Soul Power bottleneck Bei Bei had mentioned.

"Is that... a Plant-type Martial Soul?"

At the sight of the "little twig" in Lu Yi's hand, Tang Ya looked puzzled at first. Then her eyes lit up.

He had Soul Power, his Martial Soul looked much like her Blue Silver Grass, and most importantly, he had no one to rely on.

He was practically a Tang Sect disciple delivered to her by heaven.

Tang Ya was just about to introduce herself when Huo Yuhao's voice suddenly sounded.

"Cough, cough... Sister Xiao Ya, you're here?"

Huo Yuhao's eyes were full of confusion. He had been in his mental space listening to Brother Sky Dream recount his past and had no idea how much time had passed.

"Little Brother Yuhao, you're awake?"

Tang Ya and Bei Bei turned their attention to him, only to see Huo Yuhao get up and walk straight to Lu Yi.

"Thank you for saving me! Otherwise, I'm afraid—" Huo Yuhao broke off.

He had suffered constant bullying at the White Tiger Duke's Mansion since childhood. Having only just arrived here, he had been saved by a stranger and found himself at a loss for words.

Nor did he know the proper courtesies of the martial world. In the end, he could only give Lu Yi a deep, solemn bow.

Lu Yi made no show of modesty. He accepted the thanks.

Bei Bei and Tang Ya were surprised by the sight.

It seemed the two boys had not killed the baboon together. Instead, Lu Yi had saved Yuhao.

But his Martial Soul hardly looked capable of hurting anything. What had he used?

It would be awkward to ask him outright, but that did not stop their curiosity. Hoping to get to know him better, Bei Bei invited him along. "Why not travel with us, Brother Lu? We can look out for one another while we hunt Soul Beasts. What do you say?"

Lu Yi had no reason to refuse.

Since I'm here, I might as well make the best of it!

If he wanted to grow stronger, he would have to acquire a Soul Ring.

And with two helpful locals like Tang Ya and Bei Bei, he would not have to go alone.

Without hesitation, Lu Yi smiled.

"Then I'll trouble you, Brother Bei!"
