Swift as charging thunder, fast as lightning.
Everything was completed in the flash of an eye.
From Phoenix luring Bian Zhenxin away from the encirclement of the gray-robed apostles, leading him to the big tree where Tang Fei was hidden, to her suddenly lifting her knee and striking Bian Zhenxin's vital point. While he was paralyzed by intense pain, his thoughts and consciousness in a state of stagnation, unable to dodge or cry out a warning in time, Tang Fei leaped down.
Strike the enemy when he's down, take his life. The cleaver in his hand, blade facing down, plunged fiercely into the crown of his head.
Not a single word of communication, not even a glance exchanged, yet their coordination was flawless.
Phoenix knew what Tang Fei wanted, so she did everything he hoped she would. She even performed exceptionally.
It was like an actor auditioning; the director wanted a seventy, but the young lady went straight for an Oscar.
And Tang Fei didn't disappoint Phoenix. After her successful strike, he immediately sprang forward, resolving the big boss, Bian Zhenxin, in the first instance.
Not just anyone could become a Black Robe.
Only then did Tang Fei's body land lightly.
Scrape!
His deerskin boots made a fine, sandy sound as they stepped on the soft, short grass. Tang Fei winked at Phoenix, then grinned broadly at Bian Zhenxin, who was kneeling on both knees, a dagger still stuck in his head.
"Don't you think he looks ridiculous?"
"."
Phoenix inwardly gasped, once again feeling the terrifying aspect of this young man.
He had just pierced someone's skull with a dagger, and the cleaver was still in the man's head, yet he was already taunting him.
Was he impatient for the man to die, or worried he wasn't dead enough?
Phoenix could swear on her ample chest that neither of those things could be true.
Bian Zhenxin's eyes were wide open, his pupils dilated, and blood was seeping from all seven of his facial orifices.
His residual consciousness allowed him to hear Tang Fei speak, but he couldn't respond.
"Who is he?"
"How did he get here?"
"I'm going to die..."
—
Bian Zhenxin's mind was filled with too many questions and regrets.
Oh, and a dagger...
Because he was facing away from Tang Fei, he couldn't turn around. He only found the voice somewhat familiar but couldn't clearly see Tang Fei's true face, filling his heart with regret and resentment.
He would die with his eyes open!
"Kick him!" Tang Fei suggested kindly.
"Huh?" Phoenix was confused.
The man was dying, why kick him again?
"Kick him!" Tang Fei urged, "Hurry, there's no time..."
Phoenix didn't understand, but still, at Tang Fei's command, she kicked Bian Zhenxin in the chest.
Bang!
Bian Zhenxin's body fell straight to the ground, his face tilted up towards the sky.
Tang Fei brought his smiling face closer, waved at Bian Zhenxin, and greeted him proactively, "Divine Envoy, we meet again."
"Pfft!"
Bian Zhenxin's mouth began to spew blood, the blood splashing everywhere.
"Pfft!"
"Pfft"
—
Bian Zhenxin continued to bleed.
Tang Fei pointed at Bian Zhenxin and said to Phoenix, "Look, old friends are happy to see each other."
"."
Phoenix nodded stiffly, but a chilling fear crept into her heart.
This devil!
It was only then that the gray-robed apostles reacted. Their leader had been killed, in an extremely humiliating manner.
They couldn't understand how anyone dared to oppose their Flame Shrine in the Hate Mountain gathering area.
Even more so, they couldn't comprehend how anyone dared to attack a Black Robe. Didn't they know what that meant?
Because it was too sudden, too shocking, they were momentarily unsure how to react.
"Kill! Kill them!" Finally, one of the gray-robed figures shouted.
"Kill them and avenge our leader!"
"Brothers, it's either them or us!"
—
A group of people drew swords, sabers, and spears from their waists or chests. Some held giant axes, charging towards Tang Fei and Phoenix with roars.
Rumble.
A loud noise echoed.
Then, a ball of white, plump flesh.
Oh, that was a person.
Little Fatty charged forward, carrying a tree trunk about as thick as a thigh and over ten meters long. With a powerful swing, he sent the gray-robed figures flying, their momentum instantly shattered.
Little Fatty didn't stop. He raised the tree trunk and slammed it down on the head of a gray-robed man who was just trying to get up, roaring, "You hit my brother, you hit my brother!"
He could take a hit himself because he was tough.
But no one was allowed to hit Tang Fei, because he was family, his elder brother.
He remembered grudges and sought revenge.
Crack!
The gray-robed man's bones were all smashed.
Bang!
He then used the tip of the tree trunk to smash into the chest of a gray-robed man holding a spear, roaring, "You hit my brother's face, I remember it all!"
The black-robed man was sent flying backward by the impact.
Tang Fei felt a bit embarrassed by Little Fatty's shouting and explained to Phoenix, "It wasn't a real hit, just a graze."
Being hit in the face was embarrassing enough. Shouting it out like that made it even more so.
"I know," Phoenix nodded in agreement.
She chose to believe Tang Fei unconditionally, even if he said the sky was green or water tasted like honey, or that the Earth wasn't round.
Even if she didn't believe it, she forced herself to. She couldn't change Tang Fei, but she could definitely change herself.
Living! Nothing was more important than living!
Tang Fei pulled his cleaver from Bian Zhenxin's head and slashed the throat of a gray-robed apostle who had just charged at them, calling out, "Let's get started too."
Phoenix had said she was in the Qi Control Realm, and Tang Fei still had some doubts.
Whether someone had strength or not could only be proven in battle.
If she was faking it, he'd demand a refund.
If she was real, wouldn't she be a great asset in a fight?
Even freebies like "Didi" were sweet and sour, let alone a free bodyguard like this?
Perhaps on that distant planet, the Qi Control Realm wasn't much, but on this post-apocalyptic Wasteland, the Qi Control Realm was incredibly rare, a needle in a haystack, with only a handful of experts on the entire Earth.
Phoenix tugged at her waist, and a black, phoenix-headed weapon appeared in her hand.
"What is that thing?" Tang Fei glanced at it from the corner of his eye, then curled his lip in disdain.
Could that thing kill people?
Smash people to death with a beast head?
Whoosh!
Phoenix pressed a button on the phoenix-shaped handle, and a silver beam shot out from the phoenix's mouth.
Silver Light Whip!
Swish!
With one whip, the silver light flared, and the body of the charging gray-robed apostle split into two.
There was no blood, not even time for it to flow.
At the same time, another gray-robed figure lunged at her.
As everyone knew, a whip was a long-range weapon. If an enemy got too close, they would be in trouble.
Phoenix remained calm, appearing almost elegantly composed.
The silver whip in her hand rapidly retracted, shrinking to a third of its previous length. It transformed into a short spear and thrust fiercely into the chest of the gray-robed man.
Silently, a round hole appeared in the gray-robed man's chest.
"Holy crap..."
Tang Fei's eyes widened.
The Silver Light Whip in Phoenix's hand shone brightly, whipping and thrusting, sometimes short, sometimes long, constantly changing.
What man wouldn't want to own such a miraculous treasure?
