History
Su Yu accompanies the Star Luo imperial delegation to Spirit Hall’s Martial Soul Library as one of its principal guards. After Ling Yuan nearly strikes Dai Yan, he checks on the frightened princess. When Ci Xue and She Long intervene in the escalating dispute, Su Yu introduces himself as a Star Luo Imperial Family guard and bows to them 27 29.
Following Qian Zong’s order to cripple everyone except Dai Weisi and Zhu Zhuyun, Su Yu appeals for mercy by invoking his duty to protect the prince. She Long responds by striking toward his abdomen. Faced with losing his cultivation, Su Yu defends himself with Ten-Thousand Vine Prison, then apologizes and asks to negotiate. She Long instead prepares a lance attack, prompting Wei Cang to shield Su Yu and the delegation 30 31.
During the retreat, Su Yu uses his vines to evacuate the remaining Star Luo members while Zhu Chen carries Dai Weisi and Zhu Zhuyun ahead. Yue Guan blocks their escape, and Zhu Chen directs Su Yu to take responsibility for the prince and Zhu Zhuyun. After Zhu Chen is killed, Su Yu leads another escape attempt, but Jiang Mo’s barrier and Qian Jun’s gravity pressure immobilize the group. He is among those crippled before Qian Zong orders the prisoners arrested and scheduled for public execution 31 32 33 34.
Personality
Su Yu favors diplomacy when confronted by stronger opponents. He asks She Long to preserve harmony, invokes imperial backing, and renews his request for discussion even after blocking an attack. His restraint is deliberate: he recognizes that defending himself does not mean he can defeat a Titled Douluo 30.
His caution does not prevent him from acting under pressure. He protects his cultivation rather than submitting to crippling, then helps evacuate the delegation when negotiation fails. He is visibly grief-stricken during the retreat following Zhu Chen’s death 30 31 33.
