Background / History
Qian Renxue’s father, Qian Xunji, died after suffering severe injuries inflicted by Tang Hao. She regards Tang Hao as responsible for his death and welcomes news of his mutilation, though she wishes Spirit Hall had killed him outright 33.
She assumes Xue Qinghe’s identity to carry out the Nation-Stealing Plan, exploiting the Heaven Dou Empire’s weak institutions and divided political establishment. She considers the same approach far more dangerous in Star Luo, where imperial relatives control important offices and are difficult to infiltrate or recruit 23 35.
Dai Xuanyu attributes her commitment to the operation to spite and a desire to prove herself to Bibi Dong. He repeatedly uses her choice as a warning against sacrificing cultivation for political schemes, judging that she has squandered her exceptional innate talent 14 26 38 39.
Personality
Qian Renxue is proud of Spirit Hall and particularly intolerant of failures that damage its reputation. Ghost Douluo’s exposed investigation in Star Luo enrages her, while the unsuccessful attempt to kill Tang Hao deepens her contempt for Bibi Dong’s leadership. She is equally scathing toward Heaven Dou’s ineffective intelligence service 23 25 33.
Her anger rarely overrides the demands of her disguise. When Xue Ye welcomes closer relations with Star Luo, she abandons outright opposition and argues enthusiastically for the alliance while planning to sabotage it. She also changes recruitment targets when Dai Xuanyu proves difficult to approach, identifying Dai Zhuang as a possible intermediary 25 46.
Her confidence rests partly on assumptions about other people’s ambitions. She believes the temptation of the throne will persuade six-year-old Dai Xuanyu to accept her support, without knowing that he has already been secretly appointed crown prince 5 35.
Abilities & Skills
Identity Impersonation
Qian Renxue maintains the public identity of Crown Prince Xue Qinghe while directing Spirit Hall’s covert operations 23 25.
- Conceals her private hostility toward an anti–Spirit Hall alliance behind convincing public approval 25.
- Uses Xue Ye’s trust to influence imperial policy 25 47.
- Removes her disguise in private when meeting her own subordinates; the provided passages do not explain its mechanism 35 46.
Political Manipulation
She turns disputes between factions into opportunities to weaken Heaven Dou and advance the Nation-Stealing Plan 25 46.
- Appeals to Xue Ye’s desire for stronger, more centralized imperial authority 25.
- Exploits Ge Long’s plans against Star Luo exchange students to create grounds for military spending cuts 46.
- Plans to support a Star Luo prince so that a prolonged succession struggle drains the rival empire’s strength 35.
- Considers recruiting Dai Zhuang to monitor Dai Xuanyu, assist his supposed succession campaign, and damage relations between the empires 46.
Intelligence Operations
Qian Renxue receives secret reports through Spirit Hall personnel and compensates for gaps in Heaven Dou’s intelligence network 23 35.
- Orders Ci Xue to circulate news of the Star Luo tiger-roar incident discreetly, avoiding the need to explain her own source to Xue Ye 23.
- Tracks the Star Luo diplomatic mission, though its changing route and restricted personnel movement frustrate her agents 35.
- Fails to recognize that Dai Zhuang and Dai Xuanyu are the same person, leaving her recruitment strategy based on a false distinction 46.
Relationships
- Qian Xunji — Father. His death following Tang Hao’s attack gives her a personal reason to want Tang Hao eliminated 33.
- The Great Enshrined — Grandfather. She asks about his response to the Star Luo disturbance and is irritated that he leaves the investigation to the Pope 23.
- Bibi Dong — Spirit Hall’s Pope and a focus of her resentment. Qian Renxue condemns her operations as careless; Dai Xuanyu believes earning her recognition motivates Qian Renxue’s schemes 25 26 33.
- Ci Xue — Porcupinefish Douluo and trusted subordinate. Reports intelligence, carries out covert instructions, and praises her political maneuvering 23 35 46.
- She Long — Snake Lance Douluo and subordinate. Avoids responding when she speculates that Bibi Dong may have attacked the diplomatic mission 35.
- Xue Ye — Emperor deceived by her Crown Prince identity. Consults her judgment and responds favorably to her arguments for stronger imperial authority 25.
- Xue Ke — Treats her as her imperial brother under the Xue Qinghe disguise. Qian Renxue visits Moonlight Pavilion to collect her 33.
- Dai Xuanyu / Dai Zhuang — Intended political asset, whom she mistakenly regards as two separate people. He knows her identity and anticipates her interference 26 35 46.
- Xue Beng and Xue Xing — Rivals of her public Crown Prince faction. They seek opportunities to weaken her influence at Heaven Dou Royal Academy 45 46 50.
Story Role / Major Arcs
Star Luo Awakening Investigation
After learning that a tiger’s roar shook Star Luo Imperial City and suppressed tiger- and cat-type Martial Souls, Qian Renxue discovers that Heaven Dou’s intelligence service has missed the event entirely. She orders Ci Xue to spread the information covertly and hopes to prevent any increase in Star Luo’s strength 23.
The Two-Empire Alliance
Ghost Douluo’s intrusion gives Star Luo grounds to propose cooperation against Spirit Hall. Qian Renxue initially wants Xue Ye to reject the proposal, but changes course upon recognizing its appeal to Heaven Dou. Her public endorsement conceals plans to wreck the alliance or use it to suppress inconvenient factions 25.
Dai Xuanyu has anticipated this response. His alliance proposal also provides a cover for traveling to Heaven Dou, and he considers either diplomatic success or Qian Renxue’s sabotage potentially useful to Star Luo 26.
Exploiting the Star Luo Succession
While awaiting the diplomatic mission, she considers assassinating Dai Xuanyu to provoke a crisis between the empires. She rejects the idea because his death could help the remaining princes settle the succession sooner. Instead, she plans to strengthen his position and prolong the internal struggle 35.
The Academy Provocation
Qian Renxue engineers Zhou Cang’s confrontation with Dai Zhuang after learning of Ge Long’s scheme against the exchange students. The resulting scandal gives her faction a pretext to reduce military spending, weakening Heaven Dou ahead of Spirit Hall’s takeover 46.
Dai Zhuang’s instant victory surprises her. Unable to reach the fourth prince directly, she considers recruiting this apparently talented collateral relative as an intermediary—unaware that he is the prince himself 46.
When Star Luo exchange students gain eligibility for the Heaven Dou Team’s preliminary selection, Dai Xuanyu suspects her involvement. The policy is confirmed by the academy, but her responsibility remains his inference 47.
