Background / History
Zhou Cang belongs to the Aoki Zhou Family, staunch supporters of Heaven Dou’s Grand Marshal Ge Long. He studies in Heavenly Supreme Class One under Qin Ming and regularly participates in Soul Fighting matches at the Great Soul Arena 43 45.
Challenge to Dai Zhuang
Zhou first tries to provoke the Star Luo exchange student Dai Zhuang—Dai Xuanyu’s concealed identity—by asking whether Heaven Dou Royal Academy or Star Luo Royal Academy is better. During the subsequent practical combat lesson, he requests a match against the newcomer. Dugu Yan offers to fight Zhou herself, while several classmates criticize his behavior. Zhou dismisses their objections, and Dai accepts the challenge 43.
Opening with his strongest offensive Soul Skill, Azure Wood Claw, Zhou mistakes Dai’s motionlessness for fear and inexperience. Dai breaks the attack barehanded and drives him into the arena floor with one strike, without releasing his Martial Soul or using a Soul Skill. Qin Ming declares Dai the winner, extracts the unconscious Zhou, and takes him to the infirmary 44.
Political Fallout
Ge Long had encouraged his subordinates’ younger relatives to provoke Star Luo’s exchange students, hoping to gain leverage at court. Zhou’s conspicuous hostility instead exposes the military faction to blame. His parents berate and beat him for giving its opponents grounds to attack Ge Long and demand military spending cuts 45.
Qian Renxue later reveals that her agents manipulated Zhou after learning of Ge Long’s plan. She wanted a clash involving a military-connected student to justify budget cuts and weaken Heaven Dou’s military for Spirit Hall’s Nation-Stealing Plan. Although Zhou’s instant defeat surprises her, the resulting scandal serves her purpose 46.
Personality
Zhou is openly provocative and overconfident. He initially presents his challenge as an ordinary request to test a newcomer, then abandons that pretense when classmates object. During the fight, he assumes Dai is helpless and anticipates a reward for his family before realizing how badly he has misjudged his opponent 43 44.
His political judgment is poor: his transparent aggression makes his faction’s involvement obvious. Qian Renxue regards him as unusually easy to prod and deceive without leaving evidence of her agents’ involvement 45 46.
