"Road closed?" Xu Yi looked ahead in surprise, then thought for a moment before getting up and stepping out of the bus.
When he walked to the front of the convoy, he found a wooden fence standing in the middle of the highway as a roadblock, barring the convoy's way.
Xu Yi gazed into the distance. There was no sign of construction farther down the highway, and he could see several horse-drawn carriages traveling along it. Pedestrians were passing through unhindered as well.
It seemed that only his convoy had been stopped.
Behind the roadblock stood a dozen or so soldiers in matching armor. Judging by the insignia on their chests, they did not belong to the Kingdom's regular army, but were probably members of Laimart City's local City Guard.
The soldier currently arguing heatedly with Ankato appeared to be a junior officer.
"Ankato, what's going on?" Xu Yi stopped Ankato, whose neck was red and whose face was filled with anger, and questioned him.
"President, these fellows aren't stopping anyone else, but they stopped our convoy. They're clearly making trouble for us on purpose!" Ankato pointed at the soldiers indignantly. "I just saw them letting carriages and everything else through. But when our convoy arrived, they put the roadblock back up."
"Hey, didn't I already explain it to you?" The junior officer pointed at the highway behind him. "This highway is undergoing repairs, so we can't let your heavy vehicles through. Do you still not understand?"
"But I clearly saw you let an enormous freight wagon through. It wasn't carrying any less cargo than we are, was it?" Ankato protested.
