Eric stared at the document in his hands, his brow tightly furrowed.
Only after a long while did he let out a deep sigh, put down the document, and close his eyes. He pinched the bridge of his nose, allowing himself to relax a little.
He had spent the entire afternoon reviewing documents without a break except for a single trip to the toilet. Naturally, he was exhausted.
Glancing at the documents still piled high on his desk, Eric could not help smiling bitterly.
Before ascending the throne, he had always imagined how satisfying and delightful it would be to become king of this kingdom.
But once he actually took the throne, his happiness lasted only those first few days. For nearly half a year afterward, he had been entangled in tiresome work, without a moment to spare.
His overly busy, stressful life often made him involuntarily yearn for the days when he had still been a prince.
Back then, he had not needed to worry about all these tangled affairs of state. He could eat when he wanted, sleep when he wanted, and amuse himself however he pleased.
But after becoming king, he was so busy that he not only slept poorly, but even had to squeeze time out of each day to eat. He had no freedom at all.
As for having fun? He was reviewing official documents even in his dreams!
When he had watched his Father King busily reviewing documents before, he had thought little of it. Only when he had to do it himself did he fully understand that being a king really was no comfortable affair.
In truth, he knew very well that the reason he always felt exhausted was that he found no satisfaction in it.
Why had he wanted to become king?
