However, as the seat of the grand duke's residence, Felois City naturally came to be regarded as the Deral Duchy's political and economic center.
The Drake Duchy was not particularly large, so Felois City had never been very large either.
Not only was it incomparable to Anvilmar City, the royal capital of the Lampari Kingdom, it was even smaller than Bunta City had once been. It could be considered one of the unremarkable little cities found everywhere on the Sains Continent.
Thus, when Marquis Southgate and Seymour saw Felois City's walls in the distance, disappointment inevitably showed on their faces.
They had seen many novel things on their journey through the Drake Duchy. It had truly opened their eyes and left them eagerly anticipating Felois City, reputedly the most developed city in the entire duchy. Yet now that they saw it for themselves, it looked like nothing more than this. It was a tremendous disappointment.
However, the Mana Sedan carrying them did not head toward the distant walls. Instead, it clearly took a detour, seemingly intending to bypass the city altogether.
Seymour was taken aback and asked the driver they had hired along with the Mana Sedan, "Hey, where are you taking us?"
The driver glanced at him through the rearview mirror and answered with a smile, "Sir, didn't you come here to buy a Mana Sedan? They don't sell them in the Old City. The Xinfei Merchant Guild's sales outlet is in the New District. I'm taking you there now."
"The New District?" Seymour murmured, looking at Marquis Southgate.
Marquis Southgate nodded slightly, signaling for him to wait and see.
Seymour asked no more questions and settled back against his seat.
