In early October, the Xinfei Merchant Guild suddenly announced that it would cooperate with the Lampari Kingdom on three projects.
The first joint project concerned mana signal towers.
Under the agreement signed between the Xinfei Merchant Guild and the Lampari Kingdom, the guild would initially erect more than a hundred mana signal towers within the kingdom. Together with the fifty towers it was about to erect in the Black Rice Wasteland, they would form a mana fluctuation signal transmission line stretching from the guild's main base in the Stantin Duchy all the way to Anvilmar City, the Stantin Duchy's capital.
According to information released by the Xinfei Merchant Guild, once this signal transmission line was completed, people at the guild's main base could, in theory, use magic communication boxes to speak with people in Anvilmar City, nearly a thousand kilometers away.
However, the Xinfei Merchant Guild also announced that technical limitations in current research into mana fluctuation signals meant that these long-distance calls could not yet be made available to the public. Once completed, the line would therefore only support conversations between certain designated individuals.
Although the Xinfei Merchant Guild offered no explicit explanation, everyone guessed that this mana fluctuation signal transmission line, which the guild also called a communication line, was primarily intended to make it easier for its president, Xu Yi, and Her Majesty Queen Servini of the Lampari Kingdom to speak with each other.
But erecting a full hundred and fifty additional mana signal towers in one go, with the guild's announced projected investment alone reaching four million gold coins, merely to make conversations between Xu Yi and Queen Servini more convenient seemed far too extravagant.
Unlike the ordinary people who focused on such gossip, quite a few people within the Lampari Kingdom brought up the resistance
