Power Progression
The levels below belong to Ji Feng, the martial soul’s wielder, rather than to an independently cultivating dragon.
| Stage / Realm / Level | Chapter | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Pre-awakening manifestation | 3 | A dragon silhouette and roar appear when all eight Heavenly Soul Stones shatter. The martial soul remains unawakened. |
| Divine and demonic attributes emerge | 6 | Divine power and demonic slaughter alternate before appearing simultaneously: sacred white on Ji Feng’s left side and blood-and-ink darkness on his right. |
| Complete awakening | 7 | Manifests as the Defiant Evil Dragon after the Dragon Core shatters and enters Ji Feng’s brow. Its roar frightens Mu En’s Radiant Sacred Dragon into retreat, despite Ji Feng testing at zero innate Soul Power. |
| Protective manifestation during bodily reconstruction | 11 | Becomes increasingly solid while Ji Feng absorbs Mu En’s power. Black-and-white scales and an internal film of dragon power protect his body. |
| First Soul Ring; Ji Feng advances from level 10 to level 20 | 13 14 | The Red-Eyed Silver Dragon King’s sacrifice supplies a hundred-thousand-year ring. Stored Soul Power from Mu En is converted to fill Ji Feng’s expanded meridians; the ring grants Dragon Rend Strike and Dragon Shadow Strike. |
Background / History
The dragon first appears during Yan Shaozhe’s attempt to awaken Ji Feng’s martial soul with eight Heavenly Soul Stones. Its roar nearly disperses Yan’s protective Soul Power and causes his Bright Phoenix martial soul to activate defensively. Despite this manifestation, Ji Feng’s awakening remains incomplete 3.
Mu En subsequently uses a Dragon Core formed from a Radiant Sacred Dragon’s life and power to stimulate the dormant martial soul. The procedure reveals two supposedly incompatible attributes—divinity and demonic slaughter—which settle into a balanced coexistence. Ji Feng identifies the resulting dragon phantom as the Defiant Evil Dragon 5 6 7.
After discovering Ji Feng’s zero innate Soul Power, Mu En attempts to use his blood and a secret ritual to evolve Bei Bei’s Blue Lightning Tyrant Dragon into the same supreme martial soul. Ji Feng counters by absorbing their Soul Power through the Northern Darkness Divine Skill. During the ensuing ordeal, the Evil Dragon protects his body from Mu En’s overwhelming energy 9 10 11.
Following his escape to the Star Dou Great Forest, Ji Feng chooses the Evil Dragon as his primary martial soul because suitable draconic Soul Beasts are easier to find than spatial ones. The Red-Eyed Silver Dragon King’s sacrifice then provides its first Soul Ring 12 13.

Abilities & Skills
Divine and Demonic Slaughter Attributes
- Combines divinity, described as stronger than ordinary light, with demonic slaughter, an attribute above darkness associated with judgment and killing 6.
- Maintains both powers simultaneously rather than allowing either to eliminate the other 7.
- Holy-lit dragon-claw attacks burn the old woman’s reanimated body faster than its regenerative bugs can repair it 18 19.
Draconic Suppression
- Frightens Mu En’s Radiant Sacred Dragon back into his body immediately after awakening 7.
- Suppresses the Brown Bear and poison wolf martial souls of the thieves Ji Feng confronts 16 17.
- Causes Soul Beasts of ordinary bloodlines to avoid Ji Feng during Martial Soul Possession 21.
- Limit: The old woman’s anomalous Blood Wolf martial soul resists this intimidation 17.
Protective Dragon Power
- Produces dense black-and-white scales during Ji Feng’s absorption of Mu En’s Soul Power 11.
- Coats his organs, meridians, flesh, and bones with a protective film of dragon power 11.
- Limit: Its scales do not prevent all physical injury; the old woman’s wolf claws cut through them and wound Ji Feng’s arm and abdomen 18.
Dragon Rend Strike
A skill granted by the first hundred-thousand-year Soul Ring 13 14.
- Concentrates Soul Power in both dragon claws for a heavy, rending blow 14.
- Deals double damage to a single target and can be used repeatedly 14.
- Combines with Ji Feng’s paired arm Soul Bones to tear Ziqiang apart 17.
Dragon Shadow Strike
The first Soul Ring’s second skill 13 14.
- Stimulates Ji Feng’s muscles for a shadow-swift, straight-line dash that strikes targets along its path 14.
- Reaches up to five meters and supports escape, repositioning, and evasion 14 16 18.
- Limit: Ji Feng must steady his breathing before using it again; the old woman exploits this interval to launch a follow-up attack 14 18.
