Background / History

Shrek Academy and Corruption

Ma Xiaotao was a prominent member of Shrek Academy’s inner court and a student of Yan Shaozhe. During the previous Soul Master Tournament, Ma Rulong used the Sword of Judgment to force her transformation into an Evil Soul Master. The Holy Spirit Cult subsequently attacked Shrek and forcibly took her away 22 23 31 36.

The cult cultivated her as its Fire Phoenix Saintess. Zhongli Wu regarded her as his proudest creation, and she received personal instruction from Ye Xishui. Her evil fire intensified her existing pride and aggression, leaving her increasingly unstable 23 24 25.

Joining the Sun Moon Team

Before the Sun Moon team’s match against the Earth Dragon Sect, Ma Xiaotao entered its lineup as outside support under an arrangement backed by Xu Tianran and the Holy Spirit Cult. She immediately attacked Ma Rulong with evil fire poison, incapacitating him and claiming his place. Two accompanying Evil Soul Masters replaced the team’s support fighters 23.

She insisted that Luo Feng be left to her and clashed with Meng Hongchen, who questioned whether her phoenix could overcome his Jade Dragon King. When Luo Feng challenged the altered lineup’s legality, Ma Xiaotao offered to count his victory over her as a victory over all seven opponents in the individual matches 23 24.

Wager and Defeat

Acting on Zhongli Wu’s instructions, Ma Xiaotao proposed a wager: Luo Feng would join the Holy Spirit Cult if he lost, while she would become his concubine if she lost. After he accepted and provoked her, she unleashed Phoenix Meteor Shower. Luo Feng countered with Space-Time Annihilation Strike, then concealed Primordial Time Domain within the resulting smoke to disable her wings and restrain her 25.

Escape and Commitment to Luo Feng

During Shrek’s evacuation, Ma Xiaotao’s evil fire erupted again. She separated from the group and attacked Luo Feng when he encountered her in the wilderness. When Ye Xishui confronted them, Ma Xiaotao volunteered to return to the cult to protect him. Luo Feng refused and escaped with her using Light-Time Void Escape. Given the choice between returning to Shrek and accompanying him to the Earth Dragon Sect, she chose the latter. Ma Xiaotao subsequently confessed her love, consummated her relationship with Luo Feng, and pledged to remain with him in life or death. Conflict with the Holy Spirit Cult
