Rise to Sovereignty

The Snow Empress was alone from birth and regards the Far North itself as her parent. She eventually slew its previous ruler, the Extreme Frost Dragon Lord, and claimed the imperial position 67 68.

Before she had secured her rule, sea soul beasts invaded to plunder the Far North. Their leader, the Sea God Radiance Whale, was driven back into the sea. Other participants included the Sacred Light Sea King Dragon, which coveted the former ruler’s dragon core and corpse, and a Crystal Light Spiral Beast. She remembered these enemies long afterward; before meeting Yu Tianjun, she intended to fight the whale to the death to remove a future threat to her homeland 67.

Over hundreds of thousands of years, she traveled across the continent, became acquainted with Death Canyon’s powerful soul beasts, and occasionally shared tea with ocean soul beasts. At home, she usually left routine administration to the Ice Empress, the Far North’s regent 63 74.

The Tribulation Crisis

Her approaching 700,000-year heavenly tribulation became a mortal threat after her failed second-core attempt. She found a hundred-thousand-year snow lotus capable of sealing her origin, giving her the alternative of assuming human form and cultivating anew 65.

Yu Tianjun instead planned to offer her the Earth Dragon Sect’s profound ice marrow. He hoped that restoring her origin and enabling dual soul cores would secure the Far North’s support for his organization 58.

Pursuit of Huo Yuhao

After Yu Tianjun’s party freed the Ice Empress from the Sky Dream Ice Silkworm’s prison, the Ice Empress summoned the Snow Empress. On learning what had happened, she burned origin power to issue a Far North-wide order against Huo Yuhao and the silkworm, then located and intercepted them 63.

Following Yu Tianjun’s directions, she entered the Earth Dragon Sect’s Cold Spring and reached its hidden ice cavern. She agreed to protect him and spare innocents, then restored her origin and began condensing her second soul core. Watching her cultivation enabled Yu Tianjun to comprehend complete Unity of Heaven and Man 65 66.

After completing her dual cores, she confirmed their alliance, gave him her snowflake mark, and arranged for the Ice Empress to protect him while she faced her tribulation and recovered. She promised to join him after two years 66.

Electrolux subsequently explained soul spirit contracts to her. She questioned how the technique could be taught widely, then supported the project as a means of reducing soul beast slaughter. At the Aurora Glacier, she introduced Yu Tianjun to a sixty-thousand-year Aurora Star Qilin Deer; its successful contract convinced her that soul spirits could benefit both species 67.

Su Tong’s Adoption and Departure

The Snow Empress brought Su Tong before Yu Tianjun after discovering her Heavenly Snow Woman martial soul. Treating Su Tong as a descendant of another Snow Woman, she offered to overlook her soul hunting if she became her goddaughter. Her hostility toward human soul hunters is equally severe: meeting her while hunting in the Far North ordinarily means death 63 68.

She nevertheless judges cooperation by its results. Yu Tianjun earns her approval by rescuing the Ice Empress, sharing resources, respecting her homeland, and presenting a credible alternative to killing soul beasts. She treats Electrolux respectfully because of his invention’s importance to her people 66 67.

With trusted company, she becomes playful and openly affectionate. She privately rates Yu Tianjun’s merits, swings her feet while seated on her throne, and rejects being called Su Tong’s “great-grandaunt” because it makes her sound old. This warmth does not prevent her from participating in Su Tong’s coercive adoption 66 68.
