Background / History
Divided identity
Gu Yue and Na’er were originally one being but became separate avatars, each possessing an independent body and consciousness. Gu Yue sent the avatar with a different attitude toward humans to Aolai City after sensing the Golden Dragon King bloodline there. That search failed to produce the expected meeting because Tang Wulin had already left 4 22.
While living among humans, Gu Yue became Leng Yaozhu’s disciple at the Spirit Pagoda. She concealed the nature of her strength recovery by initially planning to advance at the pace of an ordinary genius, reducing the likelihood of attracting suspicion from powerful humans 5 16.
Meeting Tang Wulin
Gu Yue first briefly crossed paths with Tang Wulin at Spirit Pagoda headquarters. Their gazes met, and his blood stirred in apparent resonance. They properly introduced themselves in the Spirit Ascension Platform after he saved her from a flying soul beast attacking from behind 2 3.
She recognized his Golden Dragon King bloodline during the ensuing battle. Against a thousand-year Flame Lion, she supplied ice-based restraint and finishing attacks while he handled the physical assault. Contact between them caused their soul powers to blend and amplify one another; afterward, she asked to fight alongside him again 4.
Gu Yue privately considered devouring Tang Wulin to absorb his bloodline, but decided to wait until it matured. Her plan was to cultivate a friendly relationship and let his power “ripen” before harvesting it. As their association continued, however, she began showing concern that she herself could not fully explain 5 7 16.
Youth Genius Class
Gu Yue and Tang Wulin were selected as the Spirit Pagoda’s representatives in the joint Youth Genius Class, beginning with a year at Shrek Academy. For Gu Yue, the assignment also offered an opportunity to meet Na’er, whose presence raised questions about whether their separated selves would reunite 21 22.
At their classroom reunion, Gu Yue and Na’er pretended not to recognize each other while competing to sit beside Tang Wulin. Their rivalry later extended to designing his Battle Armor, though his proposal that they collaborate produced increasingly ingenious designs over the following three months 23 27 29.
In private, Gu Yue pressed Na’er to return, arguing that remaining separate to gather information was no longer necessary. Na’er preferred the freedom of her independent existence and evaded the request. Their reunion remained unresolved 28.
Appearance
Gu Yue initially appears as a petite girl of about five or six, with delicate features and a ponytail. At the hospital reunion, she is described with glossy black hair falling down her back and an elegantly poised bearing 2 3 16.
- Eyes: Clear and wide during her introduction, but unfathomable in the earlier lobby encounter 2 3.
- Build: Small and youthful, contrasting with her agility and composure in combat 3.
- Expression: Usually calm and difficult to read, including during the class’s extraordinary test results 23 24.
Personality
Gu Yue is aloof and rarely grows close to others, according to Leng Yaozhu. She remains composed under pressure and conceals her intentions behind a quiet, friendly exterior. Her early interest in Tang Wulin is calculating: she evaluates his developing bloodline as a future source of power 3 5 6.
That calculation increasingly conflicts with personal attachment. She keeps in contact during his training away from the Spirit Pagoda, visits him, brings valuable food, and silently reproaches him after his dangerous confrontation with an Evil Soul Master. By her private conversation with Na’er, she cannot readily act on the idea of devouring him 16 27.
She is also competitive and possessive. Tang Wulin’s advancement makes her accelerate her own recovery, while Na’er’s closeness to him provokes disputes over seating and Battle Armor design. Nevertheless, she can cooperate effectively with Na’er when they work toward a shared practical goal 16 23 27 29.
