Governance and Institutions
- Chairman and Parliament — Discuss responses to major institutional disputes. During the Shrek crisis, Parliament Members advocate retaliation, while the Chairman orders investigations and military assistance 35 36.
- Federation Army — Operates mecha forces, guarded military bases, and detention facilities. Officers shown include a major and several lieutenant generals 32 34 36.
- War God Temple — Provides high-level military support. The Chairman explicitly treats intervention against Mu Ye as part of its duties 36.
- Hawk Faction — Lieutenant General Li Tian belongs to this faction and opposes Shrek Academy’s independence, believing all factions should submit to Federation rule 33 35.
- Public services — Include a Federation Hospital in Shrek City and medical units dispatched after the train attack 15.
Shrek Academy’s Special Status
Shrek Academy’s independence within the Federation dates back ten thousand years, supported by historical circumstances and its influence among major powers. Although Shrek does not interfere in Federation politics, the Sea God Pavilion commands enough prestige that senior Federation officials hesitate to offend it 33 35.
Many Federation figures want that independence revoked. Relations have become increasingly confrontational, and Li Tian uses Tang Wulin’s case as an opportunity to challenge Shrek’s authority 33 35.
Military Resources
Mecha Forces
| Grade | Documented deployment | Capabilities or outcome |
|---|---|---|
| Yellow-Grade | Reinforcements following the train attack 15 | Accompany Black- and Purple-Grade units; no specific combat rating is given 15. |
| Purple-Grade | Train reinforcements and the station arrest operation 15 32 | Military-standard units described as possessing Soul Emperor-level combat strength. Tang Wulin demolishes the units deployed against him 32. |
| Black-Grade | Train reinforcements and successive station deployments 15 32 33 | Can rival Soul Saints or even Soul Douluos. Tang Wulin destroys the first two deployed at the station; roughly a dozen more arrive afterward 32 33. |
| Red / Divine-Grade | Li Tian’s personal mecha 33 36 | Among the Federation’s strongest weapons of war, with combat strength equivalent to a Three-Word Battle Armor Master 36. |
Elite Combatants
- Lieutenant generals — The five officers defeated by Mu Ye are Titled Douluo-level experts, equipped as either Three-Word Battle Armor Masters or divine-grade Mecha Masters 36.
- Eighteen War Gods — Represent the pinnacle of combat strength within the Sun Moon Federation. War God Temple members are described as at least Three-Word Battle Armor Masters 30 34.
- Chen Xinjie — Leads the War God Temple as Vast Sea Douluo and a Four-Word Battle Armor Master 34.
- Limit Douluos — The publicly known Limit Douluos throughout the Sun Moon Federation can be counted on two hands 36.
Honors
Star Emblem
- Awarded for outstanding contributions; Tang Wulin and Wu Changkong each receive one for saving lives during the train attack 15.
- Carries considerable prestige despite offering few tangible rewards. Holders may make requests at any Federation branch, provided the requests are not excessive 15.
- Tang Wulin presents his emblem during the station confrontation. The major recognizes it but nevertheless proceeds with a false Evil Soul Master accusation 32.
History
Holy Spirit Cult Purge and Train Rescue
The Federation conducts a purge of the Holy Spirit Cult before Red Skull’s train hijacking. His group targets passengers in retaliation, intending to kill at least five hundred people 12.
After Wu Changkong defeats the attackers and Tang Wulin carries the self-destructing Red Skull away from the passengers, Federation mechas arrive and request medical assistance. Tang Wulin recovers at the Federation Hospital in Shrek City, and both rescuers receive Star Emblems 15.
Station Confrontation and Tang Wulin’s Arrest
The detention crisis begins when Wang Yu bullies Tang Wulin’s parents at the station. Wang Yu invokes his grandfather’s position among the Eighteen War Gods and threatens to make the family unable to live anywhere in the Federation. Tang Wulin defeats him, including after he activates One-Word Battle Armor 30 31.
A military major intervenes on Wang Yu’s behalf. Seeking to protect his career and appease Wang Yu’s family, he labels Tang Wulin a suspected Evil Soul Master and orders his arrest. Soldiers restrain Tang’s parents while mechas surround the family, provoking Tang to destroy the deployed machines 32 33.
Lieutenant General Li Tian accepts the major’s accusation and orders Tang Wulin killed to end the incident. Wu Changkong halts the attack with a Sea God Pavilion Token. Tang then voluntarily enters Federation custody, asking Wu to contact his influential teachers 33 34.
At the military base, Li Tian dismisses Tang’s account and doubts his connections to both Shrek Academy and the Spirit Pagoda. He contacts War God Wang Shi, Wang Yu’s grandfather, who takes responsibility for keeping Tang detained. Li Tian also omits Tang’s claimed connections from his report to higher leadership 34 35.
Institutional Pressure Campaign
The following morning, several powerful institutions act against the Federation. Its leaders initially discuss retaliation against Shrek, but successive reports leave them uncertain about the cause and whether the actions are coordinated 35.
| Actor | Action against the Federation |
|---|---|
| Shrek Academy | Orders Federation personnel out of Shrek City within one day and suspends cooperation in soul-guidance research, rare-metal supplies, and advanced Soul Master training 35. |
| Spirit Pagoda | Triples soul-spirit prices for Federation personnel, exploiting its continent-wide monopoly on their supply 35. |
| Zhen Hua | Refuses to forge Four-Word Battle Armor for Federation clients until his disciple is released. As the only Divine Craftsman capable of this work, he directly affects the Federation’s strongest combatants 35. |
| Mu Ye | Arrives at Federation headquarters to demand justice and challenges Li Tian and Wang Shi 35 36. |
The dispute also divides public opinion: some citizens fear war, while others condemn Shrek Academy and support the Federation 35.
Mu Ye’s Challenge
Li Tian repeats the Evil Soul Master accusation and threatens to arrest Mu Ye as a suspect. He deploys his divine-grade mecha, only for Mu Ye to reveal a larger divine-grade machine of his own 36.
Within three hours, Mu Ye defeats five Federation lieutenant generals. Reports assess his combat strength as comparable to a level-99 Limit Douluo despite his level-94 soul power, owing to his exceptional battle armor and blood essence. Unable to resolve the confrontation with the forces already deployed, the Chairman orders the War God Temple to intervene 36.
