"Na'er, hurry up and get out of bed!"
Tang Wulin's voice rang out beside Na'er's ear.
She opened her eyes to find Tang Wulin's adorable face right up close to hers.
"Okay, I know."
Na'er hurried out of bed.
She had no idea where Tang Wulin got all that enthusiasm. If he hadn't been there to keep her company, she wouldn't have wanted to go to school at all.
Those lessons were boring to death, especially since she had already learned so much of the material in her previous life. Going through it again was even less interesting.
"What's wrong, Na'er? Didn't you sleep well last night?" Lang Yue asked, noticing that Na'er seemed rather listless.
"Mm, I was thinking about a few things last night, so I couldn't fall asleep until very late."
Lang Yue smiled. "Sometimes you're like a little grown-up, Na'er. You think about even more things than we do."
Na'er offered no explanation. Her body was indeed very young, but her mental age could be said to exceed even Lang Yue's.
As for her actual age, she was probably more ancient than the vast majority of living beings in this world.
"I'm full, Mom. We're off to school." Tang Wulin took Na'er's hand and ran outside.
"All right. Be careful on the way," Lang Yue reminded them.
That afternoon, their teacher took everyone outside to the sports field.
"After so many days of lessons, today we'll have some actual combat."
Everyone was excited to hear that they could spar again.
Those who had lost last time wanted to win it back this time.
"You must all pay attention to safety during your matches. Understood?"
"Understood!"
The teacher looked around, his gaze settling on Na'er.
"Na'er, this should be your first match, right? Watch how the others fight first, then you can take your turn."
Na'er nodded.
She really wanted to say that, in an actual fight, not a single person here could beat her. She could even take on a third-year student one-on-one.
The teacher organized the students' matches. In Na'er's eyes, their fighting didn't even qualify as two fledgling birds pecking at each other.
Apart from Na'er, no one else in the class had a Soul Spirit or a Soul Ring yet.
"Na'er, you can take this match. Your opponent will be Tang Wulin. You're brother and sister, but don't go easy on each other."
Na'er immediately perked up when she heard that she would be fighting Tang Wulin. She had never fought Wulin before.
Tang Wulin was excited too. Although his Martial Soul was relatively weak, he was strong. Not a single classmate could beat him.
Na'er was now a Soul Master with a Soul Ring, and he wanted to see how big the gap was between him and a true Soul Master.
The two took their places in the middle of the field.
"First comes the etiquette before a match between Soul Masters. Introduce yourselves to each other."
"Na'er."
"Tang Wulin."
"Good. Now step back a little and get ready to fight."
They walked to the marked circles and released their Martial Souls at the same time.
Na'er brought out the Silver Dragon Spear.
A long strand of Blue Silver Grass grew from Tang Wulin's hand.
Na'er didn't release her Soul Ring. She wanted to try defeating Tang Wulin without using it first.
If she could win that way, there would be no need to show her Soul Ring. Otherwise, her classmates would pester her for a while again.
"Be careful, Na'er. Here I come!"
Tang Wulin extended his hand. The Blue Silver Grass rapidly lengthened into a vine and reached toward Na'er to bind her.
The Blue Silver Grass wrapped around Na'er's feet and kept spreading until it had bound her entire body.
Na'er tried struggling a little, only to find that the Blue Silver Grass held her so tightly that she couldn't break free.
"Na'er, are you okay?"
Seeing that Na'er seemed uncomfortable, Tang Wulin hurriedly withdrew his Blue Silver Grass.
The corners of Na'er's mouth lifted. "Wulin, feeling sorry for your opponent means hurting yourself."
Na'er charged forward with the Silver Dragon Spear and thrust it at Tang Wulin.
Tang Wulin calmly sidestepped it, then grabbed the Silver Dragon Spear with one hand.
He gave it a forceful tug, pulling Na'er toward him with his immense strength.
Na'er fell straight into Tang Wulin.
"Na'er, are you okay?"
Feeling her softness against him, Tang Wulin blushed slightly.
Na'er hugged Tang Wulin and smiled. "Wulin, you're amazing. I surrender."
Tang Wulin gently pushed Na'er away.
"How can that count? You haven't even used your Soul Skill yet."
Tang Wulin had seen how powerful Na'er's Soul Skill was, and he wanted to try facing it in battle.
"But you don't have a Soul Skill either. It wouldn't be fair if I used mine. Without a Soul Skill, I'm really no match for you. I surrender."
Tang Wulin knew Na'er was going easy on him, and he also understood that she probably didn't want to fight anymore.
He raised his hand. "Teacher, I lost. I'm no match for Na'er."
Their classmates were astonished. Tang Wulin, who had always refused to admit defeat, had surrendered so easily today. It was truly strange.
"Are you sure? You seemed to have the upper hand."
The teacher had naturally seen what they were up to, but didn't insist on correcting them.
Tang Wulin nodded. "I surrender."
"All right, then Na'er wins and can have a good rest. Tang Wulin, run ten laps around the field with the other students who lost."
Tang Wulin wasn't the least bit unhappy with this outcome.
There weren't many Soul Masters in their class to begin with, so the matches soon ended.
The students who had lost began running around the field together.
The field wasn't particularly large. For children with Soul Power, running ten laps wasn't difficult.
"Go, Wulin!"
Na'er stood up to cheer for Tang Wulin as he ran.
Hearing her, Tang Wulin ran even harder and quickly moved to the front.
Unfortunately for the others, Tang Wulin's physical fitness far surpassed theirs, and he easily finished first.
Na'er walked over and took out a handkerchief to wipe Tang Wulin's sweat.
The other boys were terribly envious when they saw this. They wished they had a little sister like her too.
"All right, once you've finished running, hurry back to the classroom. School will be over soon," the teacher called loudly.
Hearing that school was about to end, everyone rushed back to the classroom.
After school that afternoon, Tang Wulin wanted to stay a little longer, so Na'er kept him company.
Once almost all the other students had left, Tang Wulin took Na'er to the sports field.
"Wulin, what do you want to do? There's no one here."
"That's exactly why I brought you here."
"Na'er, I know you don't want the others to know how strong you are. But I really want to see how big the gap is between me and a true Soul Master."
"Let's fight again. You can use your full strength. I can take it."
Na'er hadn't expected Tang Wulin to bring her here because he wanted to keep fighting.
Looking into his earnest eyes, she couldn't brush him off again. "Are you really sure?"
Tang Wulin nodded with absolute certainty.
"All right, then."
Na'er summoned the Silver Dragon Spear.
At that moment, she seemed to become a different person, her aura turning razor-sharp.
Tang Wulin grew serious too and released his Blue Silver Grass.
Watching the Blue Silver Grass rapidly spread toward her, Na'er didn't stand still as she had last time.
She swung the Silver Dragon Spear, knocking the Blue Silver Grass aside with a light sweep.
She charged forward and thrust her spear at Tang Wulin.
Tang Wulin's eyes widened. He could sense how dangerous this attack was.
He hurriedly dodged sideways. This time, he didn't dare catch it with his hand.
Na'er swung the Silver Dragon Spear in a horizontal sweep, striking Tang Wulin's chest with its shaft.
Tang Wulin was sent flying.
Fortunately, his body was sturdy enough that he wasn't hurt.
"First Soul Skill, Silver Snake Thrust!"
Na'er leaped up and thrust her spear at Tang Wulin.
Tang Wulin hurriedly wove his Blue Silver Grass into a protective shield, hoping to block it.
But the white light shattered the Blue Silver Grass, skimmed past his head, and struck the ground behind him.
Tang Wulin turned and saw a crater blasted into the ground. If that blow had hit his head, he would probably have lost his life.
"I surrender."
Tang Wulin smiled bitterly. He finally understood just how vast the gap between him and a Soul Master was.
And Na'er hadn't even used her Soul Spirit in the fight. Otherwise, he would probably have lost even faster.
Na'er put away the Silver Dragon Spear and walked over. "It's all right, Wulin. You haven't been cultivating for long. Once you become a Soul Master and obtain your first Soul Ring, you'll definitely grow stronger."
Tang Wulin nodded. For now, he could only put it down to not having a Soul Ring yet.
He thought about how he needed to work hard to reach rank ten as soon as possible, while also earning enough money to buy a Soul Spirit.
Even a ten-year Soul Spirit would make him a stronger Soul Master.
