Background / History
Meeting Na’er
Na’er returns to the site of their first meeting after her rebirth, intending to become part of Tang Wulin’s life again. When men attempt to abduct her, Wulin intervenes despite being kicked to the ground. He manifests Blue Silver Grass, prompting the men to retreat because Soul Masters receive official protection. Believing Na’er has no home, he brings her to his mother, Lang Yue 1.
The children promise to marry when they grow up and seal the pledge with a high five. Wulin does not fully understand the promise, explaining marriage as staying together forever like his parents. After an official records search finds no information about Na’er, he persuades his parents to accept her into the family. The two share a room with separate beds 1 2.
School and Apprenticeship
Wulin attends school and learns blacksmithing to earn money in a household with limited means. After passing a test at Mang Tian’s workshop, he excitedly tells Na’er that he can buy her treats. His early hammering work leaves his arms so sore that she feeds him dinner 2.
Half a year later, he accompanies Na’er to her martial-soul awakening and secretly joins the waiting children. Her innate full soul power attracts a Spirit Pagoda invitation, but she refuses to leave him. They subsequently agree to pursue their shared dream of attending Shrek Academy 3 4.
Na’er Joins His Class
Wulin carries Na’er to Red Mountain Academy, where she introduces herself as his girlfriend. Embarrassed, he insists that she is his little sister. Once her talent is recognized, the teacher allows her to attend and arranges for them to sit together. When classmates crowd around her afterward, Wulin cracks a desk with his palm and demands that they give her space 5.

Na’er’s superior talent exposes his insecurity. He is happy for her but feels inadequate because his rank-four soul power falls far below her rank ten. Although he fears losing her to the Spirit Pagoda, he recognizes that his own wishes should not prevent her from receiving better opportunities 4.
He is cheerful, hardworking, and strongly motivated by food. He wants his earnings to provide Na’er with treats, enjoys being cared for by her, and can momentarily forget his worries when a meal is announced 2 4.
