"She's a genius."
Wu Changkong stood before the desk, his tone so calm it bordered on indifference, as though he were stating the simplest of facts.
"And a student like her can only reach her true potential under my instruction. So I hope you'll support me, Director Long. Whatever happens from now on, she must remain in first-year Class Five."
Long Hengxu had been looking down at the letter of recommendation. At those words, he couldn't help raising his head.
Wu Changkong had always been cold, and always proud, but he rarely passed judgment so directly.
That only made Long Hengxu take greater notice.
He glanced down at the Martial Soul entry on the letter again and couldn't resist asking, "Elemental Envoy? What kind of Martial Soul is that, exactly? You're well-informed, Teacher Wu. Do you know?"
"I just saw it," Wu Changkong said. "It's powerful, and very unusual."
He paused briefly.
"You'll see for yourself at the upcoming Class Advancement Tournament."
At the mention of the Class Advancement Tournament, Long Hengxu's expression grew more serious.
"I assigned Xie Xie to Class Five precisely to light a fire under your class." He tapped the desk lightly with his fingers. "The Class Advancement Tournament has never been just about rankings. The classes at the back have to charge forward so the classes at the front feel threatened. That sense of honor and pressure has to push the entire Intermediate Division forward."
"Have you made up your mind, Teacher Wu? How many students are you planning to enter this time?"
"I have," Wu Changkong answered without hesitation.
Long Hengxu glanced at him but asked no further questions.
He knew that when someone like Wu Changkong said he had made up his mind, he meant it. Asking again would be pointless.
