Arc 11Tsunade’s Resignation
Sasuke and his allies stopped Madara, but Obito seized Naruto and began pursuing his own plans while Naruto trained under Black Zetsu. As the truth about Sasuke’s purpose emerged, Tsunade returned to Konoha, accepted blame for the crisis, and resigned as Hokage in favor of Kakashi.
- Sasuke transformed his Susanoo into the Golem Husk and fought Madara in a catastrophic clash that devastated the land around Konoha, leaving Sasuke badly weakened and Madara unable to move.
- Obito interrupted Sasuke, tried to extract the Nine-Tails, and escaped with the Demonic Statue of the Outer Path after Sasuke and his allies fought back, and Black Zetsu then possessed Madara and used Naruto to escape.
- Sasuke used Izanagi to protect Naruto from Black Zetsu’s flames, but Naruto awakened and broke free before Black Zetsu took control of him and fled, and Orochimaru transplanted Fugaku’s eyes into Sasuke.
- Obito attacked Kabuto and Shikamaru in Sunagakure, but Kabuto and Gaara’s forces repelled him and defended the village, and Obito later revived Inoichi and resolved to rebuild Akatsuki as an army of controlled puppets.
- Black Zetsu deceived Naruto in an alternate dimension and began training him to use his dormant abilities, while Orochimaru explained to Tsunade that Sasuke had acted to prevent the Shinobi World’s destruction by Shi Mei.
- Tsunade returned to Sunagakure as Sakura summoned her, and she learned that Sasuke’s past and sudden strength were tied to the Ōtsutsuki threat, and Jiraiya also told her that Shikaku was alive but under Obito’s genjutsu.
- Tsunade returned to Konoha, where civilians blamed her for the village’s destruction and Naruto’s attack, and she accepted responsibility and told Sakura that her apprenticeship was complete.
- After the crowd spat on Tsunade, she announced her resignation, named Kakashi Hatake as the next Hokage, and left through Reverse Summoning.
