Kakuzu reached the hospital entrance in just a few breaths.
Standing outside Dave's hospital room, he thought better of kicking the door, drew his foot back, and knocked gently instead.
"Kakuzu? What's he doing here?" Dave sensed that familiar chakra outside the door. He would have recognized the man even if he had been reduced to ashes.
Each soft knock seemed to pound directly on Dave's blood pressure, and before long, his face flushed red.
"Come in," Tsukimi said when Dave remained silent.
Hearing the voice inside, Kakuzu pushed the door open. He froze briefly at the sight of Dave lying in bed, red-faced and glaring daggers at him, while Tsukimi watched him in confusion from the side.
"What are you doing back here?" It took Dave quite a while to recover. This goddamn swindler actually had the nerve to come back?
"Nothing much. There's just something I wanted to tell you," Kakuzu said with a chuckle.
"Get lost! You already took three billion from me, and you still have something to tell me? Your resignation? Now that, I'd be all ears for," Dave snapped.
"All right, Dave. Uncle Kakuzu isn't deliberately trying to upset you. Have a nice chat, you two. I'll go buy Dave some dinner." Tsukimi smiled helplessly, stood up, and left the room.
She left the two of them alone.
"There's one more thing I need to tell you. Want to hear it?" Kakuzu sat beside Dave's bed and asked with a smile.
"Good news or bad news?" Dave asked irritably.
"Good news for me. Probably not so good for you," Kakuzu said slowly after some thought.
"Then don't tell me. Shut your mouth and get lost!" Dave pointed outside the room and cursed.
