"Boom!"

With a violent explosion, a sea of flames erupted around the gasoline barrel. Everywhere the gasoline had touched became hell on earth.

"Sizzle..."

The ravenous flames quickly swallowed a large swath of zombies, setting even those coming up behind them ablaze. For a moment, the burning zombies seemed to go mad, hurling themselves frantically against the residential complex's gate. The wooden stakes blocking the entrance could not withstand such a ferocious assault and slowly began to splinter and fall apart.

Seeing the situation turn ugly, Liu Feng immediately mobilized the 10,000 Parasitic Insects that had been lying in wait nearby.

"Attack! Take control of the burning zombies and make them charge in the opposite direction. Try to infect as many other zombies as possible."

At his command, the 10,000 Parasitic Insects launched a massive assault.

Although the Parasitic Insects far outnumbered the zombies, they were tiny, and their survival rate was low in such cramped conditions. In the end, they could only control the first few rows of zombies.

But that was enough.

Thanks to Liu Feng's Parasitic Insects, the Residential Camp instantly turned the tide after being driven into a desperate corner.

Row after row of burning zombies charged frantically toward their own kind. In the blink of an eye, the entire street became a sea of flames. Even the air was thick with the foul stench of roasting, rotten flesh. Several women who had never witnessed anything like this vomited up their dinners as soon as they smelled it.

Within half an hour, the street outside the Residential Camp's gate was littered with charred corpses.

Just as everyone saw the situation improving and prepared to breathe a sigh of relief, a series of low groans suddenly came from the far end of the street. Upon hearing the sound, the zombies still on the street scattered like mice spotting a cat.

The strange sight immediately caught everyone's attention.

In the dim light, Liu Feng finally made out what was groaning.

At the end of the street, an enormous zombie, roughly two meters tall and weighing nearly 150 kilograms, was slowly approaching them.

"Holy shit, what the hell is that thing?"

"A zombie that big? Was he a basketball player when he was alive?"

"Hey, look! Is there something on his arms and ankles?"

"Oh, I see it. Those look like shackles. Unless I'm mistaken, only prisoners wear those."

"Uh, then that means he..."

As everyone debated, Han Bing suddenly approached Liu Feng, his face ashen.

"Feng, this zombie is no ordinary monster!"

Liu Feng looked at Han Bing in confusion. "What do you mean?"

Han Bing glanced back at the others, then pulled Liu Feng somewhere farther away and said in a hushed voice, "Brother Feng, to tell you the truth, I spent some time at a base under the Xia Kingdom's direct administration. There was a restricted military facility inside that base where they were conducting some unknown experiment. I'd always been curious about what they were doing in there. Then one day, I happened to be assigned a mission there, and..."

At this point, fear appeared on Han Bing's face, as though he were back there, witnessing that scene all over again.

"What did you see?" Liu Feng hated it when people left things half-said.

"Feng, what they were researching under lockdown at that base was a whole bunch of huge zombies just like this one!"

"What!"

For a moment, Liu Feng was so shocked that he nearly cried out.

Experimenting on zombies was sheer madness!

But on second thought, perhaps they were conducting those experiments to save more people? Whatever the case, it remained a mystery. Their most pressing concern now was how to deal with this big guy.

Liu Feng asked the system a question.

"How many experience points do I have now?"

[Current level: 4700. Parasitic Insects can be upgraded. Upgrade?]

Without realizing it, he had accumulated 4,700 experience points during the battle. Now that the system said he could upgrade his Parasitic Insects, why wouldn't he?

"Upgrade!"

[Ding: 1,000 experience points deducted.] [Ding: Upgrade successful!] [Parasitic Insect level: LV2]

As the system's notification faded, a finger-sized Parasitic Insect appeared in his hand. Compared with level one, its body had not changed much, but its shell was tougher and its movements more agile. More importantly, the system panel now showed that the maximum number of Parasitic Insects he could summon had reached an astonishing 100,000.

Watching the big guy draw closer, Liu Feng immediately began summoning Parasitic Insects without pausing. In a situation like this, every second counted.

"Bang!"

Just then, the big guy gripped the thick chain in his hand, pushed off hard with both feet, and leaped two meters into the air. When his heavy body came crashing down, he flattened an abandoned car outside the complex.

Everyone sucked in a breath at the sight of the big guy's strength.

Han Bing was the first to react. He hoisted the Rocket Launcher onto his shoulder and aimed at the big guy standing on the car.

"Brothers, don't hold back your ammo! Hit him with everything you've got! If this bastard gets into the Residential Camp, we're all finished!"

His words instantly snapped everyone out of their daze.

On the platform, more than thirty rifle-wielding fighters frantically fired at the big guy atop the car outside the wall.

Bullets streaked like meteors, instantly punching through the big guy's body.

But the big guy remained standing, even with his body riddled with bullet holes.

"Roar!"

Enraged, the big guy lifted his head and let out a furious roar at the people on the platform. Everyone immediately clapped their hands over their ears at the deafening sound.

Han Bing steeled himself and raised his Rocket Launcher.

"Boom!"

The Rocket Launcher was powerful enough to destroy a car, but hitting the big guy was like hitting a massive boulder. It only blasted his chest into a bloody mess without killing him outright.

Seeing the big guy take a Rocket head-on, everyone lost heart.

If this thing wasn't even afraid of a Rocket Launcher, what could possibly frighten him?

No one dared imagine it, and neither did Han Bing. Despair settled over the entire platform.

Just then, Liu Feng suddenly stepped forward from the side. Looking at the big guy on the car roof a short distance away, he curled his lips into a slight smile.

"Go, Parasitic Insect! Show him what you can do!"
