Background / History
Han Bing previously spent time at a base directly administered by the Xia Kingdom. While assigned a mission at a restricted military facility there, he witnessed experiments involving unusually large zombies. The memory frightens him when a similarly enormous, shackled zombie attacks the Residential Camp 9.
Before joining Liu Feng, Han Bing led survivors living in an abandoned factory. Their defenses consisted of a brick-and-wood perimeter and abandoned cars, while many residents carried clubs, machetes, or axes instead of firearms. Long Tai threatened to kill them unless they gathered a month’s supplies for forty people within one week, pushing Han Bing’s scavenging party toward robbery 3 4.
Personality
Han Bing initially struggles between compassion and desperation. His men accuse him of going soft when they discuss robbing Liu Feng, and he later admits that he cannot bear to make other camps suffer the exploitation his own people endured. Nevertheless, he agrees to collect tribute because Liu Feng saved his life 2 12.
His resistance to Long Tai marks a decisive change: even when Liu Feng appears to have been killed, Han Bing refuses to surrender and declares that he will no longer live as a coward. His loyalty subsequently becomes fierce enough that he threatens Master Hua for proposing a change of leadership during Liu Feng’s absence 6 32.
Han Bing remains cautious rather than blindly confident. He warns Liu Feng about dangerous negotiations, political retaliation, and A58’s factional struggles, but generally follows his decisions once they are made. In quieter moments, he jokes with Liu Feng and shows curiosity about his insects 17 18 23 40 45.
