A gray-black, foxlike Pokémon lay on the operating table. The fur around its neck was black, while dark red fur covered its limbs and the areas around its eyes, with a flame-shaped tuft rising from its head.
"Zorua, a Dark-type Pokémon, can take on human form. Its weakness is its tail. If its transformation isn't complete, touching its tail will undo it. It's a Pokémon that loves playing pranks."
"Its base stats are pretty good. Its evolved form, Zoroark, has high Attack, Special Attack, and Speed. Add its Illusion Ability, and it's a very useful Pokémon. It's just so rare that you hardly ever see one."
Looking at Zorua, Xiao Ran quickly ran through everything he knew about it.
"You little rascal. I really don't know how you learned so much about Pokémon."
Qiao Hongyuan chuckled as he chided him, though that was all it was. He was very proud of his grandson.
"What's wrong with this Zorua? It looks pretty weak."
Xiao Ran smiled without answering and instead looked at the Zorua in the infirmary.
"First, it absorbed a Moon Stone, which made the fairy power in its body too strong. Then they had it absorb a Dark Orb, hoping to balance things out. Instead, the two powers clashed inside it and completely destroyed its elemental balance."
Qiao Hongyuan spoke slowly. This was the tragedy of most Pokémon used in experiments. Only a handful could be saved, and even those might have to return for more experiments.
"I'll go take a look!" Xiao Ran fell silent for a moment, then entered the infirmary.
A young nurse was tending to Zorua. When she saw Xiao Ran come in, she looked puzzled at first, then her eyes lit up. What a handsome boy!
"I'm here to take a look at it!"
