In other words, against Chip Away, all the defensive boosts Diancie had given Milotic would be as good as useless.

With Feraligatr's offensive power, Milotic would be in serious danger if that attack landed.
"Use Twister and blow it away!" Xiao Ran shouted.
Twister was a Dragon-type move, and Feraligatr did not have much resistance to it. Still, blowing away a Gym Leader Class Feraligatr with this move would be very difficult.
That was why Xiao Ran dared not get careless. Twister was only meant to buy time. To win, he still had to find an opening to counterattack.
"Then use Dragon Dance!" Seeing that Twister had temporarily trapped Feraligatr, Xiao Ran called out another command to Milotic.
Feraligatr's natural speed was about the same as Milotic's, but with Agility boosting it, on top of its Gym Leader Class strength, Milotic was at a severe disadvantage in speed.
But Dragon Dance would change that. With both boosts in effect, Milotic's speed would also increase dramatically.
