"Samurott, Payback!" "Roar!"
As soon as the opposing Pokémon Trainer gave the command, Samurott, who had been struck by Shock Wave, roared and sent a blast of black energy hurtling back toward Electabuzz.
"Roar!" The energy blasted Electabuzz off his feet. He crashed to the ground with a long gash across his body.
Payback returned an attack at twice the damage, so although Electabuzz's attack had dealt Samurott a considerable injury, the counterattack left Electabuzz even more badly hurt.
"Samurott, charge in and use Slash!" Before Electabuzz could get up, Samurott charged forward again, raised his right claw, and slashed down hard at him.
"Electabuzz, dodge with Quick Attack, then use Thunder Wave!" Cheng Xuewen shouted rapidly.
With Payback in play, he did not dare keep pressing the attack with Shock Wave. But that did not mean he had no other options. The control move Electric-type Pokémon excelled at most was Thunder Wave.
The unerring Thunder Wave left Samurott's entire body paralyzed, severely restricting both his movements and his ability to use moves.
"Electabuzz, Charge!" After restricting Samurott's movements, Cheng Xuewen used a status move exclusive to Electric-types.
Charge greatly increased the power of the next Electric-type move while also raising the user's Special Defense.
Electric ions in the air rapidly gathered around Electabuzz. Samurott grew anxious at the sight, but there was nothing he could do. As a Water-type Pokémon, he was affected by Thunder Wave even more severely than other Pokémon.
"Samurott, Focus Energy!" With no other choice, the opposing Pokémon Trainer called out to Samurott.
Focus Energy greatly sharpened a Pokémon's concentration. All he could do now was hope the move would help Samurott resist the paralysis in his body as much as possible.
"Electabuzz, Thunderbolt!" With Charge boosting his power, Cheng Xuewen decided to go big.
