As the bathroom fully solidified, the entire room within his Mind Space had finally taken shape.
"Humm!"
In an instant, the whole room within his Mind Space began to resonate and tremble faintly, everything inside undergoing subtle adjustments.
Gradually, the entire room became a unified whole. Not only had all its various abilities grown stronger, but it had also developed a new ability.
With a thought from Li Feng, an invisible force surged outward, sending the dust floating around him swiftly to the floor.
At the same time, Li Feng gained a mysterious new sense of awareness and control over his surroundings.
Even with his eyes closed, he could clearly perceive everything around him. He could even sense some of what lay inside objects, through their surfaces.
His arm shifted slightly, and a cup on the table two meters ahead moved a little.
Once the entire room had taken shape, Li Feng's mind and soul finally broke through their bottleneck. His mental power extended into the outside world, allowing him to exert a slight influence on reality.
He could draw upon the room's power to suppress things, as well as perceive and control his surroundings.
It was remarkably similar to the domains spoken of in legends.
However, Li Feng's Spirit Domain was far too weak. Suppressing and restraining an enemy's power, boosting his own combat strength, or even establishing his own rules within it were all out of the question.
He could not even interfere with an enemy's movements or power.
At most, he could now settle airborne dust and clearly perceive an opponent's movements within two or three meters, barely improving his chances of victory.
In his current state, he had only just brushed against the faintest edge of a domain.
And immediately following the transformation of his Mind Space, the skin covering Li Feng's body abruptly broke past a limit as well, undergoing a transformation of its own.
At that instant, the skin all over his body began trembling and writhing violently, continuously devouring the surrounding world spiritual force and mind fog. Its connection to his mind grew ever closer.
By the end, Li Feng almost had the illusion that his skin was an extension of his mind, moving with his thoughts and changing at his will.
Based on his own strength and his earlier tests with a knife, a single thought was enough for Li Feng to roughly gauge how tough his skin had become.
It no longer feared ordinary knife slashes, axe blows, spear thrusts, or sword cuts.
Even against powerful blunt impacts, it could easily dissipate three hundred jin of force without the slightest damage to his internal organs, tendons, or bones.
Although physical strength was not the main focus of this improvement, Li Feng's tests showed that his strength had reached over two hundred and seventy jin.
Standing before the bathroom mirror again, Li Feng merely pictured Yuan Chengfang's body and appearance, and his skin swiftly began to writhe and change.
In less than a breath, he had transformed completely into Yuan Chengfang.
Aside from a slight difference in height, there was no visible distinction whatsoever.
Then, as one figure after another appeared in Li Feng's mind, his body rapidly changed. Men and women, old and young—he copied them all perfectly, except that his height remained unchanged.
Returning to his own appearance, Li Feng grinned silently.
After a brief moment of thought, Li Feng tried cultivating again.
This time, however, he found the results rather disappointing.
His Mind Space continued to grow stronger, and even the outline of another room began appearing beside the first.
But with insufficient power, it failed to take shape in the end. Only the wall nearest Li Feng's room showed the things in the neighboring room.
As for how Li Feng knew what was in the neighboring room...
His mind fog and mirror reflections could both accomplish that.
His mental power, which he could now project outward, could also penetrate the wall and sense some of what was next door.
Well, Li Feng certainly was not trying to peep. He only wanted the things he visualized to be accurate.
However, while his Mind Space could continue expanding and strengthening, his Body Tempering—or rather, his Skin Tempering—showed very little improvement.
"Have I... finally reached the limit?"
Li Feng's expression shifted, showing both delight and disappointment.
He was delighted that his Skin Tempering had finally reached its limit, allowing him to begin the next stage of cultivation.
At the same time, however, he felt deeply disappointed.
In terms of defense, his Skin Tempering could only protect him against ordinary knife slashes and axe blows.
Forget truly divine weapons—even the weakest firearms available today would probably be beyond his ability to withstand.
Compared to other cultivation methods, which could allow someone to completely ignore modern guns and artillery at advanced levels, his fell short by far more than a little.
"Ahh..."
Li Feng held out his hand and watched his skin change freely under his control, unable to keep himself from heaving a deep sigh.
"Rrrip!"
In his foul mood, Li Feng inadvertently put a little too much force into his thoughts.
As his will followed his emotions, a palm-sized patch of skin on his left arm that he had been controlling was actually torn right off.
"Hiss—agh!"
Li Feng could not help crying out in pain.
"Hiss—hah! Hiss—hah!..."
Looking at the bloody flesh on his arm and the bloody skin he had torn off, Li Feng held out his right hand in a loose grasp and repeatedly sucked in sharp breaths.
Fortunately, after its latest transformation, his skin's ability to heal and regrow had improved further.
In just that short time, the bloody flesh on his arm had already scabbed over, and the surrounding skin was rapidly growing.
The pain in his arm also faded quickly, leaving only mild, intermittent throbs.
Li Feng estimated that, at this rate, the patch of skin would fully heal and regrow in an hour at most.
Only then did Li Feng have the presence of mind to examine the skin he had torn off.
It was roughly the size of his palm. Though originally covered in blood and flesh, it was now gradually losing its bloody color.
It seemed that all the flesh and blood apart from the skin itself were being devoured and absorbed by it.
Moreover, after being torn off, the skin had not fallen to the floor. Instead, it hovered in front of his left arm.
"This..."
Looking at the hovering Weird Skin, Li Feng was left speechless.
A floating piece of human skin.
No matter how he looked at it, it was unsettling.
Sensing the still-close connection between himself and the human skin, Li Feng tried moving it left, right, forward, backward, up, and down...
Although it was slow, it could indeed move. Its rising height was limited, however, reaching no more than two meters.
Li Feng could not help looking out the window.
Hmm, it could rise two meters here on the fifteenth floor, but what if I threw it out the window? Surely it wouldn't just fall?
And just how far away could he control that piece of human skin?
In the end, however, Li Feng did not test it.
It was not because he feared it would fall and he would have to go downstairs to retrieve it.
Mirror Traversal and his mind fog could both bring it back easily.
Rather, daylight had already begun to brighten the world outside, and he could hear people moving about.
If the human skin fell and someone discovered it, that would be rather bad.
Sitting on the sofa, Li Feng watched the piece of human skin writhe and crawl on the table before him. His gaze grew increasingly strange, and he could not help grumbling to himself.
What the fuck? Why do I feel like this is more demonic than a Demon and weirder than a Paranormal Entity...?
Li Feng held out his hand. The piece of skin swiftly writhed and crawled toward the edge of the table, then abruptly contracted and sprang up, floating quickly toward him before settling lightly into his palm.
Li Feng looked at his left arm, where one patch of skin was fairer and finer than the rest.
By now, an hour or two had passed, and that patch of skin had long since healed completely.
Yet the skin he had torn off remained full of vitality. It showed none of the rapid loss of activity seen in the hairs he had pulled out earlier or the scraps of skin torn away when the Ghost Eye self-destructed.
All the flesh and blood on it, however, had been completely devoured by the skin, leaving it smooth and fine, like a pristine sheet of human-skin paper.
After landing on Li Feng's hand, the piece of skin immediately wriggled under his control, rapidly climbing back to its original position. It fitted itself over that spot and, in the end, slowly fused with him once more.
Li Feng gently stroked it and could feel no seam at all, leaving him amazed.
He had never expected the torn-off skin to be able to reattach and fuse with him.
Would that not effectively give him two layers of defense?
With another gentle thought, the patch of skin writhed and quickly detached again.
"Tsk!"
Li Feng could not help clicking his tongue in wonder.
He really had achieved something with his skin tempering, though the result seemed somewhat unsettling.
Looking at the bright daylight outside, Li Feng thought for a moment, then guided the piece of skin onto the sofa. Turning, he picked up the Compass and left the room.
He wanted to see just how far his control over it could reach.
And how long the skin could remain active after leaving his body.
Once downstairs, Li Feng glanced back. His awareness and control of the skin had not weakened in the slightest.
After leaving the residential community, Li Feng glanced back again.
Even then, his awareness and control of the skin remained undiminished.
As he made his way toward the Investigation Department, Li Feng stopped now and then to check, but his awareness and control never weakened.
Even when Li Feng arrived at the Investigation Department, his awareness and control of the skin had not diminished in the slightest.
He was now five or six kilometers away from the Pine Court Residential Community where he lived.
Li Feng could not help pondering.
Could it be that my control over my own skin isn't limited by distance?
If that were true, it would open up a vast range of possibilities.
He just did not know how long it could remain active.
