After emerging from his visualization state, Li Feng did not immediately probe the room's internal structure with his perception. Instead, he looked toward the Living Room.
The first piece of skin had already lost a tenth of its power and was growing increasingly desperate to return to his body.
The newer piece had also begun conveying a desire to return to his body.
That was normal enough, well within Li Feng's expectations.
What he had not expected was this.
Aside from wanting to return to his body, the two pieces of skin had begun resonating with and yearning for each other.
They wanted to merge, becoming more complete and stronger so they could resist the drain on their power together.
After frowning in thought for a moment, Li Feng ultimately stopped them from merging.
Even if he let them merge, he would first have to determine how long the skin could remain active. That would give him a clear idea of what to expect in future operations.
What if the skin's power vanished at a critical moment?
True, he could still test how long its power lasted after the merger.
But the newer piece still had plenty of power left.
Once they merged and their power became one, the test would take even longer.
Not to mention that becoming more complete and stronger might allow them to last longer still.
Then Li Feng looked at his left arm again, quietly drew a deep breath, and gritted his teeth.
Riiip!
In an instant, he tore off all the skin from his wrist to the back of his left hand.
"Hiss—ah!"
"Hah, hah..."
Letting out a suppressed cry of pain, Li Feng sucked in sharp breaths, his left hand trembling.
Only after a while, when the pain eased, did Li Feng relax a little.
Still, perhaps it was his imagination, but he felt that this injury was healing a little faster.
Li Feng frowned and considered it, then decided that it was indeed possible.
Life inherently possessed the ability to adapt and evolve. His skin and the surrounding flesh had become extraordinary through cultivation, so it was understandable that they would possess an even greater capacity for adaptive evolution.
As Li Feng repeatedly tore off his skin and let it heal and regrow, it was perfectly reasonable for those tissues to adapt and evolve, gaining a faster healing rate.
But ultimately, he had only done it three or four times, so the change was not particularly noticeable.
Still, whatever the case, it was a good thing.
Li Feng forced a smile, silently consoling himself.
Who the hell kept tearing off their own skin just to make it heal a little faster?
Gathering his thoughts, Li Feng looked at the bloody piece of skin hovering before him and willed it to move.
"Hiss, hiss, hiss..."
The skin immediately began writhing rapidly. The flesh clinging to it swiftly melded into the skin—or rather, was devoured by it—further increasing its vitality.
Li Feng guided the skin over to the Living Room sofa. Looking at the three pieces spread out side by side, he could not help twitching at the corners of his mouth. He felt that the atmosphere of his home was heading in a strange direction.
In the end, Li Feng simply decided that what he could not see would not bother him. He closed his eyes and extended his mental perception, examining the internal structure of the Bed beneath him.
Bit by bit, he replicated it in the Bed within his Mind Space.
The Bed in his Mind Space immediately underwent a subtle change.
The things within his Mind Space were, in essence, condensations of mental and spiritual power, along with World Spiritual Force.
As such, they actually emitted a faint spiritual glow.
A halo of spiritual light surrounded them, like divine artifacts or magical treasures.
But now, the Bed's spiritual glow abruptly dimmed, gradually approaching the invisible force-field radiance emitted by real matter.
This made the entire Bed look utterly unremarkable, as though it were an ordinary bed.
Its abilities, however, had not weakened. Instead, they had grown considerably stronger.
Next, Li Feng began perceiving and examining the other objects in the room one by one, replicating all their internal structures within his Mind Space.
On the first day, Li Feng replicated the entire Bedroom. The first piece of skin he had torn off lost thirty percent of its power.
On the second day, Li Feng replicated the Living Room and the Second Bedroom. The skin began instinctively reducing its activity to slow its power consumption, losing another twenty percent of its power.
Meanwhile, Li Feng tore off two more pieces of skin.
On the third day, Li Feng replicated almost all the remaining rooms, with only a few details left unfinished.
The skin's activity fell further, and it lost another ten percent of its power.
Its desire to return to his body and replenish its energy also reached its peak.
All the skin on his left arm had been shed and regrown.
On the fourth day, Li Feng finished replicating the entire apartment, and the skin's power dropped by another ten percent.
Driven by its survival instinct, the skin still desperately wanted to return to his body. Its craving for energy, however, began shifting from his body toward the outside world.
After all, Li Feng's skin could also devour world spiritual force from its surroundings, along with the energy of eerie entities, monsters, and demons.
There were naturally no Monsters and Demons nearby, but World Spiritual Force was present.
Gradually, the World Spiritual Force around that piece of skin began gathering toward it, seeping into it bit by bit at an ever-increasing speed.
At the same time, a faint, chilling sensation abruptly appeared in the room.
"Eh...? Hee hee hee..."
A barely audible, eerie murmur suddenly reached Li Feng's ears.
"Hmm?"
Li Feng's heart immediately tightened, and his expression turned grave.
Wisps of fog rapidly spread, covering the entire apartment.
The chilling power that had abruptly appeared began being swiftly devoured by the mind fog, and the faint, eerie murmur soon vanished as well.
Li Feng immediately looked at the piece of skin that had begun devouring World Spiritual Force.
Through his mental connection, it felt no different from before. He could control it at will, even directing it to actively devour World Spiritual Force.
Within moments, that piece of skin recovered ten percent of its power, and its activity began rapidly recovering.
But in the next instant, its recovery came to an abrupt halt.
Li Feng had suppressed its instinct to devour World Spiritual Force.
He was testing the maximum length of time the skin could remain active. It was not yet time to let it replenish its power.
He even extracted the power it had just recovered.
Looking at the skin, once again barely clinging to life, Li Feng wore a solemn expression.
Apparently, the disturbance just now had not been caused by that piece of skin.
Then where had that sudden chilling power and those eerie murmurs and laughter come from? Surely they could not have appeared out of nowhere?
Li Feng knitted his brows, struggling to work out the cause of the eerie changes.
Suddenly, inspiration flashed through his mind.
Other cultivation methods seemed to produce all sorts of illusions.
Sometimes, they could even draw in power from other-dimensional spaces, giving those illusions a degree of influence over reality.
But because Li Feng possessed mind fog, he had never been disturbed by such illusions and had almost forgotten about them.
The eerie change that had suddenly occurred, however, gave him an idea.
Perhaps that eerie disturbance was connected to those illusions and the power of other-dimensional spaces.
Li Feng could not be certain whether that was truly the case.
Still, with mind fog present, even if that power appeared, it would only be feeding itself to him. He did not need to worry too much.
Li Feng looked at the second piece of skin.
He wondered whether that power would be drawn in again once this piece reached its limit and began devouring world spiritual force.
By the afternoon, the second piece of skin had finally dropped to just thirty percent of its power and began slowly devouring the surrounding World Spiritual Force.
Bit by bit, its absorption grew faster.
By the time the third piece of skin began devouring World Spiritual Force, its absorption rate was only about a third slower than when Li Feng controlled it himself.
In an instant, a chilling power appeared out of thin air nearby.
"Hee hee hee... Eat, eat..."
Whoosh!
Fog churned and swiftly filled the room, sweeping away every trace of that chilling power.
Now, Li Feng was finally certain that this power was indeed connected to the supernatural nature of his cultivation art.
Had he truly developed the weakest "Human Body Tempering Art" to a new level, transforming it into a powerful supernatural cultivation art?
Li Feng's expression shifted, joy mingling with concern.
As far as he knew, other cultivation methods generally had something they imitated, an existing source.
That was why they produced various illusions resembling their source. The compatible power drawn in from the same source could even turn those illusions from phantoms into reality, granting them the ability to affect the real world.
His "Human Body Tempering Art," however, had no such model to imitate.
Then what was happening now? Why had it drawn in that chilling power? And why were there eerie murmurs?
Li Feng looked thoughtfully at the skin spread out on the sofa.
Most likely, the skin's mutation had drawn in that power.
Still, with mind fog present, he did not need to worry too much for the time being.
"Hmm..."
Li Feng pondered briefly, and mind fog instantly spread to envelop the entire apartment.
In moments, every part of Li Feng's home was filled with dense fog.
Anyone else who came here would have been unable to see their own hand in front of their face.
But the person living here was Li Feng.
Not only would that impenetrable fog have no effect on him, it would actually allow him to perceive everything in the apartment more clearly.
As time passed, when the third piece of skin had also recovered to forty percent of its power, that chilling power appeared again, just as expected.
Yet the instant it appeared, the mind fog was already devouring it.
"Hee..."
The eerie murmur managed only a single syllable before falling completely silent.
"Heh!"
Sensing this, Li Feng could not help grinning as he looked at the pieces of skin spread out on the sofa.
Hopefully, that unknown being would like it.
As for the pieces of skin that had undergone these new changes, Li Feng likewise suppressed their instinct to devour World Spiritual Force.
An experiment naturally required multiple sets of data for comparison.
