"Not necessarily..."

Listening to Wu Cheng and Zhao Fei's discussion, Yuan Chengfang recalled what she had seen earlier and spoke meaningfully.

"How is that possible?"

"Yeah, wasn't she the only person still alive in apartment 702?

If there's a Demon in the apartment, it has to be her..."

"Unless...

Could a Vengeful Ghost be behind this?

But didn't the captain say that was impossible?"

Wu Cheng and Zhao Fei were puzzled.

"Not necessarily...

Maybe it really isn't her..."

Recalling what he had just seen, Li Feng also looked thoughtful.

As the Weird Mirror's owner, he could naturally see the images it reflected more clearly.

"Oh?"

All three turned to look at Li Feng.

Wu Cheng and Zhao Fei looked surprised and confused, while Yuan Chengfang watched with interest.

Li Feng did not explain. He merely slid his hand across the mirror, instantly bringing another Second Bedroom into view.

There were pale blue bedsheets and a desk with books scattered messily across it.

He switched back to the Master Bedroom, where the family of three had died. It held a bed over two meters wide, a Vanity Table, and two bedside cabinets. On closer inspection, some men's and women's clothing was also visible.

Clearly, this was the dead parents' Bedroom.

He switched back to the woman's Bedroom. Pink and red dominated its decor, a dressing mirror stood against the wall, and a pink cushion lay on the bed.

After reviewing the layout of all three Bedrooms, Wu Cheng and Zhao Fei finally caught on. They exchanged a glance and spoke at the same time.

"So that's it!"

"Apartment 702 housed a family of four, not three."

"So that woman was already a member of the family..."

"Exactly!"

Li Feng nodded firmly.

"The Demon might not be in apartment 702."

"But didn't the Tracking Compass ultimately point to apartment 702?"

"Who can say for certain?"

Yuan Chengfang narrowed her eyes and spoke meaningfully.

"Hmm..."

Li Feng considered this briefly, then pressed a finger against the mirror.

Hum!

Ripples spread across the mirror before it burst open, instantly allowing the aura of power within apartment 702 to leak out.

The Tracking Compasses in their hands immediately spun rapidly before pointing straight at the mirror—or rather, at the alluring woman lying in apartment 702.

The phantom Demon above Yuan Chengfang's Tracking Compass thrashed even more violently, showing faint signs of drifting toward the woman.

Even Li Feng began to doubt his own theory.

Could that woman really be the Demon?

Yuan Chengfang, however, remained completely unfazed and formed another hand seal.

The Compass's clear light shifted. A dim, eye-like point of light at its center suddenly unleashed a suction force, swallowing the phantom Demon above it in an instant.

A moment later, the dim light flared, and a mysterious, invisible pulse swept through the Mirror Passage and over the woman in the room.

Hum!

The Compass trembled slightly, and a figure instantly appeared.

No, that was not right.

When Li Feng and the others looked closer, they realized there were two almost completely overlapping figures on the bed.

The outer figure was blue-black, while the inner one bore the mottled gray and white of an ordinary person.

"What a cunning creature!"

Yuan Chengfang gave a cold laugh.

Had Li Feng not been cautious and examined the scene carefully with the Weird Mirror, the Demon might truly have fooled them.

If they had forced their way in, they would inevitably have alerted the Demon behind it all.

But now they faced another difficulty.

Where exactly was the Demon?

With the obvious Demonic Energy in apartment 702 interfering, finding the Demon's hiding place using only the Tracking Compass was virtually impossible.

"Phew..."

Yuan Chengfang exhaled and spoke to Li Feng.

"All right, Li. Withdraw your power for now..."

"...Captain?!"

Li Feng looked at Yuan Chengfang in confusion. He had been planning to use the Weird Mirror to inspect the other apartments nearby.

Since the Demon had laid this deceptive trap here, it should not be too far away.

As long as they searched carefully with the Weird Mirror, they would eventually find the Demon's trail.

"Hey, if you can use your weird ability to track down that demon,

do you think your captain can't do the same?"

Meeting Li Feng's gaze, Yuan Chengfang smiled easily.

As she spoke, Yuan Chengfang formed hand seals and withdrew the power she had infused into the Compass.

Hum!

The Compass trembled slightly, and all its light instantly receded.

At the sight, Li Feng immediately understood Yuan Chengfang's intention.

Yuan Chengfang intended to use the Ghost Eye's ability.

After considering it, Li Feng finally withdrew the Weird Mirror's power with a thought.

Ripples instantly spread across its surface again, before it reverted to an ordinary mirror.

Yet a barely perceptible trace of Paranormal Entity energy still lingered within its surface, taking a long time to fade.

Or perhaps it had merged into the mirror.

Then, with a thought from Yuan Chengfang, a dim light flashed in her left eye, and an aura of Paranormal Entity power spread out.

Li Feng and the other two immediately felt their chests tighten.

Fortunately, the Ghost Eye was not a Paranormal Entity with strong offensive power to begin with. It had also undergone special modifications and treatment, so the power it released was not intense.

After all, if using the Ghost Eye unleashed large amounts of Paranormal Entity power, their target would probably discover them before they found it.

Thus, Li Feng and the other two soon adjusted.

Yuan Chengfang's vision shifted. Different auras swirled around Li Feng, the other two, and the objects nearby.

Li Feng bore crimson vital energy brimming with powerful life force. Wu Cheng had faint black-gray Ghostly Energy, while Zhao Fei had a faint white-gold aura.

Beyond these, streams of various colored auras left trails through the air.

The most conspicuous was a blue-black aura that extended all the way upstairs.

There was no blue-black aura leading back down, however.

Clearly, the Demon had indeed gone upstairs, but had not come back down.

After a moment's consideration, Yuan Chengfang left the stairwell again. Once outside, she looked up.

A blue-black aura shrouded apartment 702.

Beyond that, an extremely faint ribbon of blue-black energy stretched from one of its windows to the roof, then continued into the neighboring residential complex, reaching a building close to this one.

"Tsk!"

At the sight, Yuan Chengfang clicked her tongue.

This Demon really was cautious.

But before the Ghost Eye, which could perceive yin and yang and pierce illusions, all such sinister tricks were useless.

"Let's go!"

With a low command, Yuan Chengfang immediately headed toward the neighboring complex.

At the same time, she took out her phone and called the Public Security Officer, instructing them to seal off the neighboring complex and evacuate the people nearby.

Although a Compound Wall two or three meters high separated the neighboring complexes,

it posed no obstacle to Li Feng and the others.

With a light leap and a slight push against the top of the wall, Li Feng, Wu Cheng, and Zhao Fei swiftly vaulted over.

Yuan Chengfang was even more graceful.

With just a push from her toes, she floated lightly over the Compound Wall.

Upon reaching the foot of the building, Li Feng used the Weird Mirror again to inspect the apartment Yuan Chengfang indicated.

It was apartment 702 again, only in a different complex.

The mirror flickered through scene after scene before finally settling on the Master Bedroom, where a figure resembling an ordinary woman lay resting on the bed.

Although this Bedroom had no mirror, it did have a Television, which could serve as a connection point for the Weird Mirror.

At first, none of them could be certain she was the Demon.

But once Li Feng opened the Mirror Passage and Yuan Chengfang caught the aura of power within, she confirmed it instantly.

However, the Mirror Passage seemed to produce a faint fluctuation of Paranormal Entity power.

The sleeping Demon abruptly woke and instinctively looked toward the Television.

Fortunately, Li Feng reacted in time and instantly dispelled the Mirror Passage.

Observing through the mirror, on the other hand, was a passive reflection ability and produced no fluctuations of Paranormal Entity power.

Thus, even after staring at the Television for quite some time, the Demon noticed nothing amiss.

She could not help frowning slightly in confusion.

Had she really been mistaken?

Then she closed her eyes slightly and sensed apartment 702 in the neighboring complex.

There was nothing unusual. None of the measures she had put in place had been disturbed.

She relaxed a little.

"Hee-hee..."

Covering her mouth with a soft laugh, she lay down again, preparing to resume her rest.

As she lay on the bed, she could not resist extending her scarlet tongue to lick her lips.

Human hearts truly were the ultimate delicacy, the finest Elixir.

Tonight, she would feast to her heart's content again...

"Kakakaka..."

At the delightful thought, she suddenly let out a strange, cackling laugh.

Meanwhile, only after seeing the Demon lie down again did the others breathe a small sigh of relief.

"All right. Now that we've confirmed the Demon is here, we can notify the Response Department..."

Yuan Chengfang nodded and immediately called the Response Department.

"Hello, I'm Yuan Chengfang, a Level-One Investigator with the South City Investigation Division Branch. I'm currently at..."

After explaining the situation and location, Yuan Chengfang hung up.

Their next task was supposed to be to wait here and work with the Public Security Bureau to gradually evacuate the people farther away.

Once the Response Department arrived, they could evacuate the people nearby if an opportunity arose.

If not, they would have to kill the Demon first.

Yet they had not waited long before noticing that the Demon in the room was tossing and turning on the bed, unable to fall asleep again.

A short while later, the Demon suddenly got out of bed, went to the window, drew back the curtains, and looked outside with a frown.

She kept feeling uneasy, as though some danger was about to descend upon her.

She wondered whether she should leave first.

With her current disguise, no one should be able to discover her unless she encountered someone far stronger than herself. It would be enough to let her slip away from this place unnoticed.
