History
Creation and early age
The Primordial World was created by Pangu. By the opening of the novel, the Dragon-Han Calamity has just ended and the world is gradually recovering. Its Netherworld Blood Sea is a life-forbidden region of extreme yin, yet it gestates Minghe within the Twelve-Grade Karmic Fire Red Lotus. 1
The world’s early order is shaped by the emergence of Innate Demon Gods, the rise of the Immortal Court and Demon Race, and later the establishment of the Heavenly Court in the Thirty-three Heavens. 7 11
Heavenly Dao era
After Hongjun merges with the Dao, the Primordial World enters an era increasingly directed by the Heavenly Dao. 23 The Heavenly Dao later gathers its three thousand aspects, transcends its dependence on the world, and becomes an independent being capable of acting beyond it. 164
The Heavenly Dao’s governance includes repairing the fractured Primordial Great Earth and adapting the Great Zhou Heavenly Stars Array to convert external Chaos Qi into Innate Spiritual Qi. 155 180 It also introduces the Dao Seed Method, through which beings may attain Dao by merging their Great Dao with heaven and earth. 189
Calamities and restoration
Repeated calamities severely damage the world. The Witch–Demon conflict breaks Buzhou Mountain and leaves a hole in heaven and earth, while the Investiture of the Gods conflict later divides the great land into four continents. 147
Following the Investiture, the Heavenly Dao reunites the continents, reorganizes the mountain, river, and spirit veins, and grants merit to the Primordial Great Earth and the Saints who assist in its restoration. 155
Departure from the original Chaos
Minghe ultimately leaves the Primordial World rather than risk destroying it in a decisive conflict with the Heavenly Dao. He severs his connection to the Netherworld Blood Sea and takes only those willing to follow him into Chaos. 189
The world’s original Chaos later begins to collapse. Unable to repair it, the Heavenly Dao transports the Primordial World along Minghe and Pangu’s trail into another Chaos, preserving the world and enabling its inhabitants to begin anew. 229
