Background and Standing

The clan takes its name from its residence in eastern Bian Kingdom. Together with the Western Bian Chu Clan, it controls the kingdom from afar. The Chu Clan’s western influence initially limits Li authority in the capital, making the city a comparatively safer destination for Zhang Yuan and Xiao Yuanjun 2 8.

Despite belonging to the Five Surnames and Seven Houses, the clan suffers from a prolonged succession gap. Li Huixi is its only Golden Core True Lord, while the Western Bian Chu has three. Several promising Golden Core candidates eventually emerge, but the lack of replacements remains a recognized weakness 9 20 159.

Its numerical weakness does not reflect the full strength of its presiding ancestor. Li Huixi holds the Sun and Moon Wheel Metal Position and is identified among the True Lords as a Heaven-and-Earth Lesser Monarch. This status is unknown even to prominent younger descendants of other great houses, contributing to outsiders’ mistaken assessments of the clan 176 204.

Spirit Root Scheme and Retaliation

• Li Houcheng’s line plots to take Zhang Yuan’s Immortal Spirit root. Li Huixi identifies an unequal exchange, Li Jiehua’s seizure of the promised payment, and ensuing karmic backlash as the causes of the clan’s losses 9 189.
• Xiao Yuanjun kills Jiehua, prompting the clan to dispatch Houjin rather than risk its promising younger cultivator, Jieyan 2 3 4.
• Li Huixi takes responsibility for the matter, docks Houcheng half a year’s stipend, and refuses to restore Jiehua without transferring the karmic cost to Zhongshuang. Houcheng chooses his daughter’s safety 9.

East Sea Assembly and Negotiations

• A Li visitor summons Zhang to Bright Moon Pavilion, which the clan has reserved. The visitor is Li Huixi, whose true standing Zhang does not yet recognize 186 187 188 365.
• Zhang offers to spare innocent clan members if the True Lord restores Chen Xinqiao, while retaining his intention to kill Houcheng’s line. Li Huixi directs him to seek an answer at Sun-Moon Cliff 189.
• Li Huixi kills Wu Yubai and the prince’s guards when they threaten Zhongshuang, then warns Zhang that the clan’s sole Golden Core Seed of her generation must not be harmed. Zhang agrees to spare her 189.

Ya Kingdom and the Outer Heavens

• Zhongshuang, assigned by Li Huixi to watch Zhang, receives privileged treatment from the Nether Bureau despite the danger facing other Celestial People 244 254.
• In the Outer Heavens, the Li True Lord’s intervention drives away the Hengyang Lu branch ancestor and removes Zhongshuang from danger. The rescue improves Zhang’s opinion of the True Lord 316.

Return to Sun-Moon Cliff

• Houcheng orders Houjin to prevent Zhang from returning to Bian Kingdom to marry Zhongshuang. Houjin waits at the border and attempts to kill Zhang and Xiao Yuanjun 362 371.
• Zhang declares that he intends to settle matters with both Houjin and Houcheng, even while seeking help to restore Chen Xinqiao 371.
• After three months cultivating at Sun-Moon Cliff, Zhang departs with Xiao Yuanjun. He promises to return during the Chaos Calamity and marry Li Huixi if Chen Xinqiao is resurrected 385.

• Zhang Yuan repeatedly borrows Li Huixi’s name as a false identity. Wang Zhenfeng doubts the claim because it does not match the Li younger generation’s usual naming pattern 49 57.
• The title Little Ancestor reflects Li Huixi’s comparatively recent attainment of the Dao: some clan elders are older in years than the presiding True Lord 296.
• Zhang’s disappearance into Bian leads the Wenshui Deng to believe he died challenging Sun-Moon Cliff. They celebrate for several days, unaware that he is cultivating there 385 401.
