• Minor breakthroughs normally occur naturally once their requirements are met. Unlike attaining Celestial Person status or claiming a Metal Position, these advances involve almost no inherent difficulty or danger 325.

Attainment Requirements

Three Celestial Person Trials

• Nine-Turn Qi Refinement Perfected cultivators can undertake the three trials required for Celestial Person attainment; Zhang Yuan is also eligible after reaching Ten Turns 92 904.
• A Tribulation-Transforming Pill can help a cultivator survive the trials 76.
• Celestial People cannot interfere in another cultivator’s Heaven-and-Earth Trial without opposing Heaven and Earth and incurring tremendous karmic retribution 213.
• Temporarily raising Dao Status is not equivalent to genuine attainment. Without the corresponding Celestial Person power, the elevation can leave a cultivator dangerously unbalanced 128.

Dao Domain Formation

• A newly ascended Celestial Person must forge a Dao Domain within one hundred days. It anchors them in the Chaos Great Void; without it, their rising Dao Status can carry them into the Outer Heavens Chaos, where they become lost and eventually perish 120.
• Only a genuine Celestial Person can forge a Dao Domain. A Qi Refinement ability resembling one does not bypass this requirement 120.
• The Congenital True Law of Self-Transcendence provides an unusual advantage: its fourth, Ten-Turn divine ability supplies a blueprint for the future domain. Xiao Yuanjun’s ability becomes her Dao Domain automatically upon ascension 33 120.

Dao Name and Registration

• New Celestial People must proclaim a Dao name to Heaven and Earth. The Nether Bureau records it and grants an eight-hundred-year celestial lifespan 133.
• When that term expires, the Bureau claims the cultivator for reincarnation. Their bodies’ extraordinary vitality does not exempt them from this jurisdiction 132 133.
• Bureau Inspectors are largely rule-bound manifestations of the Bureau’s authority and Heavenly Laws. A Day Patrol Deity can immobilize even a newly attained Celestial Person 133.

Dao Status

Dao Status is the fundamental distinction between Celestial People and Qi Refinement Perfected People 132.

• Fully released Dao Status can make a mortal burst apart from a glance, drive cultivators below Third Turn mad through Dao-heart collapse, and immobilize ordinary Nine-Turn Perfected People 132.
• Lower cultivators cannot freely look upon or remember a Celestial Person’s true appearance. Forced observation can cause bleeding eyes or severe injury; portraits and recordings do not ordinarily overcome this restriction without permission 352.
• A Celestial Person’s emotions can affect surrounding weather, producing dark clouds, rain, and lightning 754.

Primordial Spirit Perception and Divination

• With one thought, a Celestial Person can survey ten thousand miles of mountains and rivers and perceive karma and energy traces 132.
• They can deduce lower cultivators’ secrets through karma and perceive the relative weight of a person’s Fortune and Fortune Predestination 132 138.
• These perceptions are not infallible. Xiao Yuanjun’s Severing Past and Present, Leaving No Trace conceals forms, karma, and heavenly secrets even from Celestial People 4.
• Treasures can extend their investigative reach. The Origin-Tracing Creation Disc enhances perception and divination sufficiently to track concealed Celestial People 95.

Vitality and Divine Abilities

• Celestial Person bodies possess effectively limitless vitality; without Nether Bureau intervention, they could live as long as Heaven itself. Ordinary Qi Refinement Perfected lifespans reach only 120 years 132.
• Their existing divine abilities retain their functions but gain stronger imagos and miraculous effects 132.
• They can instantly suppress and invalidate the divine abilities of Qi Refinement Perfected cultivators 132.
• Dao Domains can supply continuing vitality and power through circulating imagos, an advantage over cultivators dependent on finite magical reserves 312 949.

Dao Domains

Divine Wonders

Divine Wonders transform a Perfected Person’s divine ability effects into profound mysteries aligned with a Metal Position 137 153.

• Their power greatly exceeds ordinary divine abilities and can enable victories against higher-stage Celestial People 137.
• Each minor stage normally offers the possibility of developing a Divine Wonder, but attainment cannot be forced. A perfected Celestial Person may still possess none 153.
• Both comprehension and sufficient Daoist attainment matter when developing them 481.
• Foundation Establishment Sword Immortals are an exception: their Celestial Person Sword Qi already compares to a Divine Wonder devoted purely to killing 417.

Cultivation Beyond Foundation Establishment

Refining the Dao Domain

• Celestial People develop their domains by refining the Six Yin-Yang Qi and Five Aggregates and Ten Natures. These resources are rarer than Heavenly Dipper and Earthly Baleful Forces and attract competing cultivators through divination 156.
• Different methods require different numbers of refined strands for each minor breakthrough. Refining more strands does not automatically produce greater strength; the method’s quality and the cultivator’s Daoist attainment are decisive 181.
