Another voice exploded overhead.
A streak of swordlight cleaved down from the center of the sky. Li Fuchan failed to dodge in time. The barrier of lightning and fire protecting him was split open, and the flesh of his left cheek burst apart, streaming blood.
His eyes grew still more terrifying. Without a word, he wiped a hand across his face. The gash scabbed over and closed at a visible speed, leaving only a mark.
Light-Deceiving leaped from his Sea of Qi. With a shake in midair, he pulled it into the shape of a three-pointed, double-edged blade and immediately locked in fierce combat with the Sword Cultivator who had appeared overhead. Metal rang against metal as densely as a sudden downpour, lightning and Sword Qi scattering in all directions.
Jiang Gu had been badly burned by the cinnabar glow brightflame earlier. Now he finally caught his breath, rolled over, and rose on the wind.
His face was still scorched black, but the hatred in his eyes was astonishingly fierce. Turning his hand over, he produced an ancient blue-black mirror. Dim light flowed across its surface as he aimed it at the lightning-wreathed figure battling above.

Caught off guard, Li Fuchan was enveloped by the mirror's light, and his ears abruptly went deaf. Every sound around him was wiped clean away, as though nothing remained between heaven and earth but deathly silence.
Then his vision darkened, and everything before him faded into gray mist.
What could not be heard by listening was called the hidden; what could not be seen by looking was called the inaudible.
