Background / History
Original History
The History Alteration System initially presents Qian Xunji’s assault on Bibi Dong in the secret chamber as a major turning point in her life. Another available historical node shows Bibi Dong, newly appointed Pope, ending his life herself. Ning Lin initially avoids directly editing these pivotal events because he fears the consequences of a large historical change 2.
Rewritten Bibi Dong History
Before their confrontation, Qian Xunji had praised Ning Lin’s paper on martial soul–pharmacology coupling. His attitude changes when Yu Xiaogang reports—and embellishes—Ning Lin’s relationship with Bibi Dong. Following Qian Daoliu’s instruction to retain her “by any means necessary,” Qian Xunji forcibly summons her and sends twelve Red-Clothed Cardinals to kill Ning Lin, including two Level 69 Soul Emperors 3 6 7.
Ning Lin survives and reaches the Papal Hall. Qian Xunji tries to make him falsely confess that he approached Bibi Dong only to steal Spirit Hall’s secrets. When Ning Lin refuses, he attempts mind control, then resorts to the Angel Holy Sword after the scheme fails. Bibi Dong shields Ning Lin and threatens to kill herself if her teacher kills him, forcing Qian Xunji to let him leave 8 9 10.
Qian Xunji’s retreat is temporary. Under the pretext of entering seclusion, he orders Bibi Dong into his concealed chamber and has Ning Lin abducted there. He intends to assault her and use Ning Lin’s torture to force her submission. Ning Lin instead breaks his chains and gives her the Heavenly Unity Pill, enabling her breakthrough to Level 90 10 11 12.
Unable to retain control, Qian Xunji decides to destroy Bibi Dong. Ning Lin intercepts him with the Phoenix Undying Flame and apparently dies in the clash. Bibi Dong attacks her teacher but does not kill him immediately; she later finds an opportunity to end his life herself. Ning Lin subsequently reveals that his apparent self-destruction was a calculated performance supported by his rebirth ability, and that the alteration spared Bibi Dong years of abuse 12 14.
Rewritten Qian Renxue History
A later historical rewrite explicitly establishes that Qian Xunji survived and that Bibi Dong never became entangled with him. In this version, Qian Renxue is his daughter by another exceptionally gifted female Soul Master. He supervises her studies and cultivation, requiring her to reach Rank 20 by the next monthly assessment and doubling her meditation time 46.
Years later, he orders Qian Renxue to replace Heaven Dou’s Crown Prince, Xue Qinghe, and gradually bring the empire under Spirit Hall’s control. When she refuses because she does not want to leave Ning Lin, he threatens Ning Lin’s life. He secures her cooperation by arranging Ning Lin’s appointment as Heaven Dou City Lord, then tells Ning Lin that the Saintess is entering prolonged secluded cultivation to conceal the mission 48 49.
Appearance
- Papal clothing: Wears an opulent, gold-trimmed Papal Robe 6.
- Composed façade: Frequently presents a gentle smile and an authoritative, controlled bearing 6 7 8.
- Visible rage: His eyes become blood-red when Ning Lin’s confession exposes the failure of his manipulation 9.
Personality
Qian Xunji disguises coercion as concern for Spirit Hall. He treats Bibi Dong’s talent as an institutional asset and assumes that possessing her will eventually secure her affection. Although he recognizes Ning Lin’s exceptional courage and potential, he considers their relationship sufficient reason to kill him 6 8.
His composure depends on maintaining control. He prefers psychological manipulation when direct violence might alienate Bibi Dong, but becomes lethally aggressive when his plans backfire. Her breakthrough exposes the limit of his possessiveness: rather than accept her independence, he chooses destruction 8 9 12.
As Qian Renxue’s father in the later rewrite, he expresses approval sparingly and places cultivation and political duty above emotional closeness. He briefly softens after seeing her distress, but his compromise still follows a threat against the person she loves 46 49.
Abilities & Skills
Six-Winged Angel Martial Soul
- Martial Soul Avatar: Manifests a sacred Six-Winged Angel avatar during the secret-chamber confrontation 11 12.
- Nine Soul Rings: Releases all nine rings when preparing to attack the newly advanced Bibi Dong 12.
- Level 95 strength: Vastly exceeds Ning Lin’s Soul Emperor cultivation; nevertheless, he recognizes that fighting a Titled Douluo with twin martial souls could grievously injure both combatants 10 12.
- Angel inheritance: Hu Liena later identifies him as the Angel God’s inheritor at the time of Ning Lin’s apparent sacrifice 27.
Angel Divine Sense
- Invades a target’s mind with spiritual power inherited from the angel martial soul 8.
- Can seize control of someone whose mental strength is far below his own 8.
- Fails against Ning Lin because the Bone Chilling Flame dissolves the invading spiritual force. Ning Lin then pretends to remain controlled 9.
Angel Holy Sword
- Forms a golden sword from soul power, its blade wreathed in searing flames 9.
- Gravely wounds Bibi Dong when she intercepts a strike intended for Ning Lin 9.
- Purifies Ning Lin’s flames during their secret-chamber clash, leaving him apparently reduced to sparks 12.
Facilities
- Secret chamber beneath his study — Constructed to block sound and soul-power fluctuations, preventing even Qian Daoliu from detecting events inside. Its runed walls also obstruct soul-power detection. Qian Xunji uses it to confine Bibi Dong and hold Ning Lin chained as leverage 10 11.
Relationships
- Qian Daoliu — Father and Great Enshrined of the Worship Hall; orders him to keep Bibi Dong within Spirit Hall regardless of the means 6.
- Bibi Dong — Disciple whose independence he tries to suppress. She rejects his authority and eventually kills him in her rewritten history 7 12.
- Qian Renxue — Daughter. His crimes provoke her shame and anger in the present narrative; in her later rewritten childhood, he remains alive as her demanding father 26 46.
- Ning Lin — Initially a scholar whose research he praised, later an enemy threatening his control over Bibi Dong and Qian Renxue 3 8 49.
- Yu Xiaogang — Informer whom he praises for reporting Bibi Dong’s activities. His regard is expendable: he ignores Yu’s pleas and does not react when his own unleashed pressure knocks him unconscious 7 8 9.
