Personality

Hu Liena’s loyalty to Bibi Dong is deeply personal: she respects and loves her teacher with a mother–daughter closeness. She refuses to tolerate attacks on Bibi Dong, confronting Yu Xiaogang and Tang San publicly rather than yielding to their authority 22 24.

Her anger can become violent. After Yu Xiaogang renews his insults against Bibi Dong and Ning Lin, she beats him nearly to death. Yet she also respects her teacher’s wishes, seeking permission before revealing painful history and withdrawing when ordered out of Bibi Dong’s room 25 28 38.
