Gu Yuanqing traded for divine soul medicines, retaliated against the Ten Directions Misty Rain Tower, and strengthened the Qian Yuan Realm while its influence grew. After Lu Zeyu died following his tribulation, Gu Yuanqing learned that Yin-Yang Void Breaking cultivators who entered the Primordial Realm never returned and resolved to be wary of the Primordial Divine Sect.
Gu Yuanqing broke through to the Yin-Yang Circulation Realm and defied the Primordial Divine Sect as its schemes and accusations brought war to the Qian Yuan Realm. After defeating its forces and securing protection from the Hidden Sun Alliance, he set out for the Ancient Battlefield to pursue the Nine Heavens War Mausoleum.
Gu Yuanqing won the Myriad Dao Returning Flow Talisman and strengthened his cultivation while the Qian Yuan Realm expanded and his companions ventured into a new continent. After uncovering the Calamity Moon Ruins and escaping a deadly blaze, the Qian Yuan Sect faced rumors and pressure from rival sects, while Gu Yuanqing continued aiding his people.
Gu Yuanqing prepared for and survived his Chaos Calamity, reaching Huntian before defeating Mu Tianheng and defending the Qian Yuan Realm. The Primordial Divine Sect and other factions learned of his breakthrough, while Gu Yuanqing returned to contemplation and his allies stood down from the formation.
Gu Yuanqing uncovered the Dao Source Forbidden Land, faced threats from the Demon Court and Demon God Mountain, and protected Feng Ziyi’s clan while the Boundary Abyss crisis worsened. As Ye Xuanxiao brought the Nether Edict Forbidden Ground to confront him, Gu Yuanqing used the forbidden ground’s power to blast Ye Xuanxiao’s avatar apart.
Gu Yuanqing strengthened his cultivation as the Ling Yuan Realm fell and the rival powers fought over its origin. He joined the defense of the Boundary Gate, where the Devil Race’s assault exposed competing schemes and ended with his avatar trapped by several great demons.
Gu Yuanqing confronted the Primordial Divine Sect’s account of the devil war, forced the realm domains to withdraw their support, and opened Qingping Grotto-Heaven. There, he advanced through its sword trials and clashed with three sword masters and the Person in the Painting over control of the Dao Palace and its formation.
Gu Yuanqing mastered Qingping Grotto-Heaven, entered the chaos immortal realm, and prepared to settle old scores while extending his influence across the Cultivation World. After facing the Sacred Heaven Sect’s defenses, he found Zuo Qiu and dragged him away.
Gu Yuanqing traveled through the Falling Star Plain and the Spirit Realm, then reunited with Li Miaoxuan at the Lingxu Sect. As Li Miaoxuan prepared to face her Calamity, sabotage threatened the sect’s protective formation.
Gu Yuanqing joined the Calamity Suppression Alliance’s campaign against the Heavenly Demons, where he secretly revealed his true strength and captured several powerful demons. He returned to hiding while the alliance believed his avatar had perished, then strengthened the Qingping Dao Palace and sensed movement in the Dao Source Forbidden Land.
Gu Yuanqing resisted the Demon Realm’s efforts to investigate North Spring Grotto-Heaven, captured Zhuo Ming, and cultivated while the Primordial Divine Sect remained absent. He found the Heavenly Demons’ hidden realm with Li Miaoxuan, then entered the Nine Regions Divine Continent and allied with Ling Yi against the demonic threat.
Gu Yuanqing fought the Heavenly Demons while trading with Great Hao, refining his cultivation, and forging the North Spring World Suppressing Seal. With Li Miaoxuan at his side, he ventured deeper into the Demon Land and finally faced Zen Master Huijue and Xiao Wuyou, who tried to stop him from approaching the Demon Abyss.
Gu Yuanqing found the Ten Thousand Dao Stone, completed his Void Immortal tribulation, and crushed the Demonic Path forces that attacked him. He later hunted demons with Li Miaoxuan, then returned to cultivation as the Mountain-Bearing Divine Turtle carried Qian Yuan Island toward the Spirit Realm.
Gu Yuanqing crushed the Netherworld Sect and fought back the heavenly demons while strengthening himself and preparing for conflict with the Primordial Divine Sect. After rescuing Lu Zeyu and learning the Sect’s plans, he moved to strike first, but an attack near Guangling City interrupted his preparations as Li Miaoxuan’s Void Immortal tribulation approached.
Gu Yuanqing defended the Qian Yuan Realm, confronted the Primordial Divine Sect, and investigated the Great Wei Divine Dynasty’s mysterious assault on the Ancient Realm. After years of cultivation and exchanges between realms, an unknown threat stirred beneath North Spring Mountain, and Gu Yuanqing returned to battle the Primordial Divine Sect with Li Miaoxuan.
Gu Yuanqing repelled attacks on North Spring Mountain and used his enemies' power to transform its grotto-heaven into a growing world. After defeating the Ancient Realm's invasion, he learned that the True Demon's body and soul were sealed in separate realms and sent an avatar to confront the Primordial Divine Sect.
Gu Yuanqing refused to be drawn into the Demon Lord’s crisis until demonic power spread across the Exquisite Realm Domain, forcing him to confront its source in the Ancient Realm. He began cleansing its corrupted cities and clashed with Wei Wuji’s forces, leaving Zhou Wei facing him with the Ancient Bronze Sword.
Gu Yuanqing conquered Wei Wuji’s forces, survived the Ancient Realm’s crisis, and became an Immortal while Li Miaoxuan ascended ahead of him. He remained in the lower realm to cultivate the North Spring Realm and settle worldly matters, gaining new insights and leaving the story poised before his eventual departure.
Gu Yuanqing developed his Great Dao, fought off the Guixu Alliance and the Divine Court’s attempts to recruit or control him, and completed his Celestial Immortal Tribulation. The arc ended with him examining the realms beyond North Spring Mountain as the Heavenly Eye God Lord investigated his mountain.
