Ouyang Lin laughed heartily, then lunged toward the men surrounding him.
For a time, their battle darkened heaven and earth, sending sand flying and stones rolling.
When the dust finally settled, devastation lay all around Ouyang Lin and Jiang Zhizhou. The men lay sprawled across the ground, their lives already extinguished.
"Come on, we must leave at once. If Mo Yi could post men here, he must have some way of finding them."
If they lingered and let the enemy cut off their retreat, they would be in trouble.
Jiang Zhizhou and Ouyang Lin scouted the surroundings, then swiftly left the wasteland with Bu Er and Yang Qing.
"What happened to Mr. Yang?"
Concern flickered in Ouyang Lin's eyes as he looked at Yang Qing, who remained unconscious.
He knew Yang Qing was in poor health. He had seen that plainly during their last encounter in the dungeon at Jade Gate Pass.
Jiang Zhizhou checked Yang Qing's pulse and relaxed. "Nothing serious. He merely exhausted himself. He'll be fine once he wakes."
As for when he would wake, that depended on heaven's will.
"Why were you here?" Only after checking on Yang Qing did Ouyang Lin turn his attention to Jiang Zhizhou.
"Pure coincidence," Jiang Zhizhou replied.
"Excellent. I happened to come to this secluded city by coincidence, too."
Ouyang Lin spoke lightly, but Jiang Zhizhou felt there was more to his words.
"If I may pry, why did you part ways with the Second Prince?"
He still remembered how highly Mo Yi had valued Ouyang Lin back at Jade Gate Pass. No one could have matched his proud, spirited bearing then.
Ouyang Lin smiled faintly. "Part ways? We were never on the same path.
