When Qian Wanyu helped Dongfang Minghui back, she found everyone acting very strangely. A hint of laughter shone in Qian Yiling's and Qian Ziyan's eyes, their expressions difficult to describe, somewhere between smiling and not. Yuchi Shou was clutching his stomach and laughing without restraint, as though he had heard something hilarious.
Lien, Xiao Miao, and Little Fatty were the most normal of the bunch, though they would have looked even more normal if their shoulders had not been shaking so hard.
Dongfang Minghui felt that something was very odd about the mood. After sweeping her gaze over everyone, she spotted Mu Sheng sitting alone beside the stream with his back to them. Everyone's eyes strayed toward him to some degree, carrying a barely perceptible trace of sympathy or delight in his misfortune. She looked at him in confusion. "Mu Sheng, what are you doing?"
Zhi Lan burst out laughing, then felt that she was being terribly disloyal and hurriedly covered her mouth, pretending to be serious.
Holding a fruit, Ding Ding suddenly flew beside Dongfang Minghui's shoulder. First, Ding Ding imitated everyone's earlier laughter with a couple of loud guffaws, then said in a babyish voice, "Little Ninth, tooth fell out."
"Hm?"
Dongfang Minghui initially thought Ding Ding was bringing up teeth again. Whenever Ding Ding wanted a Teething Stick, Ding Ding would copy Little Hui and act shamelessly. This time, however, she had clearly guessed wrong. Ding Ding bared a neat row of teeth and pointed at the front ones.
Seeing that both women were baffled, Qian Yiling gave two dry coughs and explained bluntly, "Ding Ding means that Mu Sheng's front tooth fell out."
"Huh?"
"Mu Sheng lost a tooth?"
Mu Sheng's body trembled. Had there been a hole in the ground, he probably would have crawled
