But Tyrande did not accompany Rex into the Emerald Dream. Instead, she introduced him to Fandral Staghelm, the disciple Malfurion had personally trained, who had assumed the position of Archdruid in Malfurion's absence.
This was not Rex's first time meeting Fandral Staghelm. During the Battle for Mount Hyjal, nearly every race had mobilized its full strength to resist the Burning Legion. As the hosts, the Night Elves had spared no effort.
After all, the situation had been dire. If they had lost that battle, the other races would eventually have suffered too, but they would at least have had some time to prepare.
The Night Elves had no such luxury. They were right there on Mount Hyjal.
If they lost, the Burning Legion would sweep through them immediately.
Thus, all the Night Elves' strongest figures had appeared, and that was when Rex had met Fandral Staghelm. Their meeting, however, had made it easy to overlook him. After all, everyone had gathered in the same hall to discuss strategy.
Everyone present had been either a powerful figure in Azeroth or someone of exalted standing.
They were all people whose slightest move could shake Azeroth.
Meeting Fandral Staghelm alone might have left an impression, but the problem was that several people there outranked him, including Malfurion and Tyrande.
Few people in the hall had paid much attention to him, and he and Rex had only met that once.
