Rex's eyes lit up, but the heroes in the Tavern ignored him outright. He had been inside for quite some time, yet no one approached to talk to him or welcome him, so he headed toward the bar.

At the bar, a gnome sat with his head lowered, busily polishing a cup. His expression was focused, and his two stubby legs dangled over the edge of the bar, swinging back and forth.

Looking at the gnome, Rex asked directly, "What exactly are the rules in this Tavern?"

Rex's question was straightforward.

He was decisive and brisk, wasting no time at all before getting straight to the point.

Rex wanted to understand how this Tavern worked and learn its ins and outs. The best way was to find someone who worked here and ask directly.

This was not like other secrets, where no one would tell him anything even if he asked. As long as Rex asked about the Tavern, someone was bound to answer.

This time, however, Rex had guessed wrong. After he spoke, the gnome sitting on the bar before him did not even look up, let alone acknowledge him. He simply continued quietly polishing his cup.

No one paid him any attention.

Rex could no longer remember how long it had been since he had encountered such a situation.

In this life, he was the Prince of the Kingdom of Gilneas, the kingdom's sole heir to the throne. Wherever he went, others treated him with courtesy.

It had been far too long since he had been treated like this.

Though inwardly displeased, Rex showed none of it on his face. He addressed the gnome before him again. "What exactly are the rules in this Tavern?"

Rex repeated his earlier question word for word, without changing a thing.
