A black light flashed ceaselessly, growing stronger as time passed. On the bed not far from the table holding the Black Crystal, a young man struggled to maintain control, beads of sweat streaming down his forehead. As time wore on, his face grew increasingly pale. Finally, when his endurance reached its limit, he tugged a thin cord beside him. A thin sheet of silk covered the Black Crystal inside its box, and the flashing light vanished completely.

Rex had prepared well in advance to ensure that he could still cover the Black Crystal while suppressing the rampaging holy light. The thin cord was his precaution.
