When his hand touched the flower, it visibly stilled, then slowly nuzzled Sen Lijiu. It gradually shrank until it was only the size of his palm and settled into his hand, trusting him completely. Sen Lijiu did not notice the eyes of the black dragon in Mujiu's pattern flash, along with the Black Dragon Bracelet on his wrist...
Sen Lijiu was simply too happy to notice any of this. As for whether Mujiu had noticed, knew what was happening, or had done it deliberately, who could say?
Suddenly, as though remembering something, Sen Lijiu cupped Mujiu in his hands and asked, "Mujiu, you'd better explain exactly what this Glory Flower business is about. Don't even think about fooling me. ╰(⇀‸↼)╯"
Mujiu gave an almost human shudder and changed forms, becoming a scroll with a distinctly scholarly air. Words slowly appeared across it.
[Master, after that incident, I sensed you in this small world, so I came here with the others. But we were attacked on our way here, and I fell unconscious. When I woke up, I could no longer sense your location. I could only vaguely feel that you were still in this world, so I had no choice but to stay here and wait. And then... well, you saw the rest...]
Sen Lijiu narrowed his eyes.
"You looked pretty happy here to me."
A line of words immediately appeared on the scroll.
[Master, you've got me all wrong! If I hadn't been short on power and separated from everyone else, I would never have stayed here this whole time.]
Sen Lijiu stroked Mujiu, a smile tugging at his lips.
"All right, all right. I don't blame you."
[Oh, right, Master, you must be careful. There are a few people here with bad intentions. That so-called goddess is one of them. She's awful, always trying to seal me away. Hmph. ╯^╰ Nasty woman. She's up to no good.]
As he read those lines, a cold glint flashed through Sen Lijiu's beautiful eyes. Their outer corners dipped slightly, making his displeasure plain.
"Is that so? I already met her once when I arrived."
"She certainly didn't seem like a good person. But that's all right. We'll have to deal with her sooner or later anyway, Mujiu~"
His voice was as clear and ethereal as spring water, inexplicably soothing Mujiu's anger. Mujiu rested obediently in his arms, and one of its petals brushed the small, exquisite Black Dragon Bracelet as though by accident...
Sen Lijiu felt a little dizzy, then plummeted from the sky. Mujiu instantly expanded, its predominantly Platinum blossom unfurling in midair. A Platinum beam shot from its mist-shrouded center, drawing Sen Lijiu inside...
Inside lay a vast space, its boundaries beyond sight.
In one of its beautifully decorated rooms, Sen Lijiu lay quietly on a bed.
His silvery-white hair spilled across the bed, his expression peaceful. His elaborate attire had been removed and replaced with a white garment edged in gold and embroidered with a Nine-Tailed Fox.
A man stood beside the bed, dressed in black with gold trim and an embroidered black dragon.
His clothes were clearly a matching couple's set with Sen Lijiu's, identical in cut and style. His gaze never left Sen Lijiu as he lay on the bed.
Stars seemed to glitter within the man's black-and-gold eyes. At their center was reflected a figure with white hair, silver eyes, and Platinum markings on his forehead: Sen Lijiu.
Suddenly, an illusory projection of Mujiu appeared beside the man, looking deeply respectful. Beside Mujiu was another flower that complemented it perfectly.
The predominantly black-and-gold flower was likewise surrounded by numerous mutually nurturing and counteracting attributes, though its markings differed somewhat from Mujiu's.
Mujiu's pattern showed a black dragon entwined around a Nine-Tailed Fox, intimate and inseparable.
The pattern on this flower, however, showed a black dragon coiled beside a Nine-Tailed Fox.
A close comparison revealed that these two magical artifacts were a couple's matching pair.
