Background / History

Bibi Dong trained under Qian Xunji and ventured outside Spirit Hall to develop her abilities. During her youth, she met Yu Xiaogang through a falsely alleged theft; their acquaintance developed into love 117.

Qian Xunji forcibly separated them and sexually assaulted Bibi Dong, seeking a more talented offspring. The experience left her with lasting trauma and a deep prejudice against men. Even Su Chen’s exceptional talent initially made her fear the emergence of another Qian Xunji 28.

After Tang Hao grievously wounded Qian Xunji, Bibi Dong took the opportunity to devour him. As Pope, however, she still regarded Tang Hao’s attack as a humiliation inflicted on Spirit Hall that had to be avenged 33.

Her relationship with her daughter, Qian Renxue, was initially marked by coldness and emotional distance. Qian Renxue spent holidays and festivals with her grandfather, Qian Daoliu, rather than her mother 13.

Appearance

Bibi Dong is a relatively short woman with fair skin, nearly flawless features, and pale silver hair. Although no longer young, she is repeatedly described as untouched by age, with an elegant and regal bearing 28 86 191.

  • Papal attire: A fitted golden ceremonial gown decorated with more than a hundred red, blue, and gold gemstones 86.
  • Crown and scepter: Wears the Nine-Curved Purple Gold Crown and carries a jeweled scepter approximately two meters long 86.
  • Retirement attire: Her silver hair is loosely tied with a ribbon while she tends the palace garden 201.
  • Later public appearance: Returns to Spirit City in a plain, well-fitting dress rather than papal regalia 248.
  • Rakshasa form: Has a blue face, fangs, purple armor surrounded by sinister energy, and four large scythes extending from each side of her back 288.

Personality

Bibi Dong combines continental ambition with pragmatic judgment. She wants to unite the continent and overturn its existing order, yet is willing to accept reforms proposed by a prospective disciple. She approves restricting Pope Tokens to genuine papal authority and recognizes that blacksmiths and other skilled professions are essential to building a nation 29 116.

Her authority does not eliminate institutional limits. She initially accepts the required delay before taking Su Chen as a disciple, and the Elder Council blocks her plan to award soul bones directly to the tournament candidates. She instead uses the tournament prizes to place suitable bones within their reach 11 86 144.

Her feelings toward Yu Xiaogang remain divided between love and resentment. During their reunion, she deliberately uses the assassination attempt against Tang San to make Yu Xiaogang suffer. Her hostility toward perceived threats can coexist with genuine affection for her disciples 43 117 147.

Losing the papacy does not end her concern for Spirit Hall or Su Chen. She supplies intelligence to support his leadership, worries when he personally leads dangerous battles, and gradually softens after reading Qian Renxue’s letters. In the Divine Realm, she ultimately chooses Su Chen over the authority offered by the predecessor Rakshasa God 192 201 288.

Abilities & Skills

Twin Martial Souls

Bibi Dong is the second recorded soul master with twin martial souls and the first to successfully attach soul rings to both without dying from the resulting energy overload 31 117.

Martial Soul Documented Rings Applications
Death Spider Emperor Nine: yellow, purple, purple, black, black, black, black, black, red 186 Poisonous web restraint and the ninth skill, Undying Body 187 189.
Soul-Devouring Spider Emperor Seven: black, black, black, black, black, black, red 186 Scythe attacks, including Eternal Creation 190.
  • During the papal duel, her sixteen rings have a combined age of nearly one million years, giving her substantial attribute and skill advantages over Su Chen’s four-ring configuration 186.
  • She can switch martial souls during combat to alternate between web restraint and close-range scythe attacks 187 190.

Death Spider Web Restraint

Her Death Spider Emperor’s third soul skill releases deep-purple webs accompanied by poisonous mist 187.

  • The webs expand while traveling and are described as capable of restraining enormous hundred-thousand-year soul beasts 187 190.
  • At Titled Douluo strength, she can release nearly one hundred webs in a breath, each covering roughly one hundred meters 188.
  • Su Chen counters them with concentrated fire attacks that pierce or burn the webs away 188.

Eternal Creation

Her sixth soul skill uses enormous emerald scythes to deliver a devastating single-target attack that ignores physical defenses 187 190.

  • Cuts through Su Chen’s Earth-Flow Wall 187.
  • Repeated walls and evasive movement force her to spend more soul power closing the distance 187.
  • Can still miss when an opponent’s speed leaves only an afterimage in its path 190.

Undying Body

The Death Spider Emperor’s hundred-thousand-year ninth ring grants a life-preserving skill with two effects: reconstructing a destroyed body and transforming the body into energy 189.

  • Repairs her body after Su Chen’s Rasenshuriken cuts her in half 189.
  • While active, opponents below the divine level cannot truly kill her 189.
  • Does not prevent eventual defeat through exhaustion and depletion of spiritual power 191.

Martial Soul Avatar and Spider Emperor Clone

Her seventh soul skill strengthens her overall combat capabilities; during one activation, her body turns ghastly green and emits green mist 187.

  • Enables her to break free from Su Chen’s earthen restraints 187.
  • She also possesses a separate cloning skill named Spider Emperor Clone 188.

Divine Slaughter’s Domain

Bibi Dong deploys Divine Slaughter’s Domain during her duel with Su Chen, who possesses the same domain 186.

  • Its described base effect weakens enemies by 10% while allowing the user to exert 110% of their strength 79.
  • The domain’s amplification grows alongside the user’s martial soul; Bibi Dong’s individual percentages are not specified 79 186.

Soul Bone Abilities

Ability Source Applications / Limits
True World Skull bone Creates an illusion exploiting romantic memories and desires. Su Chen breaks it with Jun Tian’s Eye 187.
Death Light Torso soul bone Fires a red beam from her torso; loses the direct clash against Su Chen’s spiritually stronger Jun Tian Divine Light 187.
Instantaneous Movement Soft Bone Rabbit right-leg bone Teleports her to close combat distance, including a documented hundred-meter advance 187 190.
Invincible Golden Body Soft Bone Rabbit right-leg bone Defensive ability lasting nine seconds per activation, usable three times daily. Su Chen times his barrage around its duration 188.
Flight Six-Winged Purple Light Wings Allows rapid aerial escape. The external bone later evolves into the purple-black Rakshasa Six Wings 187 266.

Political Strategy and Intelligence

Bibi Dong maintains detailed intelligence on infiltrators within Spirit Hall 192.

  • Her notebook records spies’ allegiances, positions, family members, martial souls, soul power, and soul skills 192.
  • She directs Hu Liena to feign opposition to Su Chen and attempt a rescue, creating an opportunity to expose hostile agents 192.
  • For Xiao Wu’s capture, she favors waiting until the tournament finals in Spirit City rather than risking an early failed attempt that could drive the target into hiding 87.

Equipment / Weapons / Items

  • Pope’s Scepter — Jeweled symbol of her office, carried during audiences and award ceremonies 11 86 143.
  • Nine-Curved Purple Gold Crown — Ceremonial headpiece worn as Pope 86.
  • Storage Soul Tool — Holds items including tournament soul-bone prizes and a dagger 143 249.
  • Rakshasa Demon Scythe — The Rakshasa God’s Super Divine Artifact; produces a purple blade of light hundreds of meters long 250.
  • Rakshasa God Armor — Divine armor whose scythes she uses against the predecessor Rakshasa God 288.
  • Rakshasa Token — Received from Su Chen after the predecessor’s death; establishes a claim to command his forces, though many reject it 289.
  • Spy notebook — Passed to Su Chen through Hu Liena to support internal security and the Soul Hunting Operation 192.

Relationships

  • Su Chen — Direct disciple, chosen successor, and eventual rival for the papacy. Despite his overthrow of her, their bond survives; he treats her as a mother and attempts to sacrifice himself to save her, while she later rejects divine authority rather than kill him 30 162 191 251 288.
  • Hu Liena — Direct disciple whom she later appoints Holy Maiden and second papal successor. Hu Liena remains devoted to her after the coup and serves as a bridge between teacher and fellow disciple 28 162 192 201.
  • Qian Renxue — Biological daughter. Their early estrangement gradually gives way to maternal affection, an explicit acknowledgment of Bibi Dong as “Mom,” and cooperation against Xiao Xingyue 13 201 249 253.
  • Yu Xiaogang — Former lover whose memory remains both cherished and painful. His loyalty to Tang San brings them into open conflict, and Su Chen’s reported killing of him triggers a bitter disciplinary confrontation 117 185.
  • Qian Xunji — Former teacher who separated her from Yu Xiaogang and assaulted her. She later devoured him after Tang Hao severely wounded him 28 33.
  • Qian Daoliu — Powerful institutional counterweight who supports her ambitions but distrusts some of her motives. He enables Su Chen’s challenge to her papacy 147 185 186.
  • Chrysanthemum Douluo and Ghost Douluo — Senior agents entrusted with investigations, assassination orders, and Xiao Wu’s capture; later assigned to guard her after her defeat 11 118 164 191.
  • Tang San — Perceived future threat because of his twin martial souls, Clear Sky Sect heritage, and family’s hostility toward Spirit Hall 33 117.
  • Xiao Wu — Hundred-thousand-year soul beast pursued as a source of a valuable soul ring; Bibi Dong orders her captured alive 87 139 164.
  • Xiao Xingyue — Su Chen’s disciple and later ruler of the Spirit Hall Empire. Bibi Dong supports the decade’s reforms but opposes Xingyue over her refusal to permit Su Chen’s apparent resurrection 253.
  • Predecessor Rakshasa God — Source of her inheritance trials and later an enemy. She refuses his demand to kill Su Chen and attacks him before Su Chen intervenes 288.

Story Role / Major Arcs

Recruitment and Reform

Bibi Dong first notices Su Chen through the divine disturbance at the Junior Academy. His rank-thirty innate soul power and ten-thousand-year first ring convince her to seek him as a disciple, but Spirit Hall’s procedures initially require her to wait for his public tournament achievement 8 11.

At their first meeting, her trauma makes her hesitate over accepting a male disciple. She chooses Hu Liena first, then offers Su Chen discipleship as well. She accepts his three conditions—Pope Token reform, respect for professional associations, and personal autonomy—provided he always places Spirit Hall’s interests first 28 29 30.

The token reform is later confirmed as implemented: outside tokens are recalled, replacements can only be bestowed by the Pope, and the Upper Three Sects’ honorary status no longer grants command authority 114.

Mentorship and Tournament Politics

Bibi Dong secretly instructs Bishop Zhang to protect Su Chen at any cost. She later rewards his success against Tang Hao by naming him Holy Son earlier than originally planned and returns the captured soul bones for him to allocate 43 115 116.

Her relationship with Su Chen develops into a partnership punctuated by disputes over methods. He blocks her assassination order against Tang San using her own Pope Token, then persuades her that a public ambush would harm Spirit Hall’s reputation. He similarly convinces her to honor Xiao Wu’s temporary reprieve rather than attack during the tournament 118 140 144.

After Su Chen and Hu Liena return from Slaughter City, she formally places Su Chen first and Hu Liena second in the papal succession, stressing that rivalry must not fracture Spirit Hall 162.

Loss of the Papacy

A confrontation over Su Chen’s unauthorized attack on Shrek escalates when Bibi Dong strips him of his titles and demands his token. The Elder Hall announces her removal, but Su Chen must defeat her directly to secure its backing 185 186.

She survives his Rasenshuriken through Undying Body and continues fighting, eventually intending to kill him. Su Chen ultimately defeats her after her spiritual power is depleted, spares her life, and creates the title Retired Emperor. Her guarded residence in the Hall of Nurturing the Heart amounts to house arrest 189 190 191.

Nevertheless, she endorses his leadership and provides intelligence through Hu Liena. At his inauguration, she is affirmed as Supreme Pontiff 192 193.

Rakshasa Trials and Family Reconciliation

Su Chen’s campaign allows Bibi Dong to pass her Seventh Trial despite losing the papacy. While confined, she remains concerned for his safety and begins shedding some of her bitterness through Qian Renxue’s letters, which Su Chen forwards to her 201.

She later disappears after receiving the Eighth Trial. Suspecting that she is hunting in the Star Dou Great Forest, Su Chen dispatches Chrysanthemum and Ghost Douluo with companions and a protective Silver Dragon Scale 216.

Bibi Dong returns amid a large procession opposing Su Chen’s reforms, but explains that she does not intend to overthrow him. She instead wishes to bless him and Qian Renxue. Her daughter calls her “Mom” for the first time 248 249.

The final Rakshasa trial demands Su Chen’s death. Faced with its deadline, Bibi Dong attempts suicide rather than accept her situation. Su Chen stops her, then strikes his own heart in an apparent sacrifice to save her 249 251.

The Ten-Year Interval

Bibi Dong supports the policies that abolish noble privilege, slavery, and the enfeoffment system. Once Su Chen’s final wishes have been implemented, she joins Qian Renxue in seeking Xiao Xingyue’s political defeat, blaming Xingyue for preventing his resurrection 253.

Their electoral challenge fails. Xingyue then leads them into a concealed underground cavern, where Su Chen is revealed to be alive 253.

Divine Realm Alliance

After ascending, Bibi Dong relies on Su Chen’s greater knowledge of the Divine Realm. Her loyalty is tested when the predecessor Rakshasa God offers his authority in exchange for killing Su Chen; she refuses immediately and attacks him instead 266 288.

Su Chen kills the predecessor and gives her the Rakshasa Token, but many of the former god’s forces reject her command. She subsequently joins Su Chen, Qian Renxue, Gu Yue, Gu Ri, and Shui Bing’er in a covert mission to reopen the passage used by ascending divine beasts 289 292.
