Background / History

Leader of the Eastern Continent’s Fierce Beasts

Ghost Chariot lived cautiously on the Eastern Continent for millions of years without venturing beyond it. As Beast Emperor Shen Ni’s fierce-beast calamity forced the bird races and Covering Sea Clan into retreat, he gathered the Eastern Continent’s Seventy-Two Fierce Beasts into an alliance to resist being swallowed by the advancing hordes 35 46.

He became the alliance’s first-ranked beast and established his nest in the forest’s tallest divine tree. The Nine-Headed Azure Luan attributed his leadership to his steadiness and caution, while the other beasts remembered his rule with fear 35 36.

Submission to Lin Tian

For 100,000 years, Ghost Chariot remained silent while Lin Tian divided the alliance into opposing camps and eventually three independent forces. He neither contacted Lin Tian nor communicated with his seventy-one subordinates. Instead, he secretly observed how Lin Tian’s trades benefited the beasts and their descendants 36 37.

Once the other beasts had submitted, Lin Tian surrounded Ghost Chariot’s tree and offered a drop of Three Lights Divine Water for his Ghost Chariot Core. Ghost Chariot emerged intending to display his strength before negotiating, but Lin Tian’s combined formations seized all nine of his necks in a single exchange 36 37.

Ghost Chariot immediately surrendered, presented his life-bound core, and pledged the alliance’s service. His submission reflected both the decisive defeat and genuine approval of the opportunities Lin Tian had brought his followers 37.

Journey to the Central Continent

Ghost Chariot eagerly accepted Lin Tian’s invitation to Mount Buzhou, leaving the Nine-Headed Azure Luan to coordinate the beasts remaining in the east. He carried Lin Tian and the Little Beast Emperor westward, providing a way to cross the Eastern Continent safely without drawing the fierce-beast tides after them 38.

The journey lasted 50,000 years. At the continental boundary, Lin Tian’s Spatial Traversal carried the group through the innate Pan Gu formation, astonishing Ghost Chariot. After arrival, Ghost Chariot located a secluded blessed land and excavated three enormous cave abodes, reserving the best one for Lin Tian 39 40.

Mount Buzhou

Following a 30,000-year retreat, Ghost Chariot accompanied Lin Tian and the Little Beast Emperor up Mount Buzhou. Its pressure initially made every step difficult, but gradually condensed his oversized body and unsealed the mouths on his faces 42 43 44.

He reached the halfway platform thousands of years behind his companions. The impatient Little Beast Emperor kicked him down the mountain, forcing another thousand-year climb. The setback brought further physical refinement and unlocked additional faces; after receiving a sincere apology, Ghost Chariot abandoned his resentment 45 46.

Under Lin Tian’s supervision, Ghost Chariot and the Little Beast Emperor each refined one of two innate formations over 50,000 years. When an ancient Chaos Demon God’s divine sense emerged, Lin Tian moved both companions into his Myriad Heavens World, preventing the enemy from creating mirror-image copies of them 47 48.

Appearance

  • Nine heads and twenty-seven faces: Each head bears three real faces—nine belonging to innate races and eighteen to acquired beings 36.
  • Sealed mouths: On his first appearance, every mouth is sewn shut and bloody tears flow beneath the eyes. Mount Buzhou’s pressure gradually releases these seals 36 44.
  • Composite form: His faces come from creatures he slaughtered and fused into his innate bloodline. They remain terrifying whether he expresses respect or anger 42.
  • Enormous wings and two claws: His wings obscure the sky and sun; he uses his claws to descend his nesting tree when offering submission 37 38.
  • Changing size: Originally only ten zhang, his body expanded through repeated fusion. His first manifestation before Lin Tian is described as a thousand zhang tall; later cultivation emphasizes condensing his several-thousand-zhang form 36 42.

Personality

Ghost Chariot is exceptionally cautious and survival-minded. He prefers observation to confrontation and accepts defeat quickly when resistance becomes futile. Despite his fearsome bearing, he habitually avoids initiating trouble and tries to understand even those who provoke him 37 46.

His loyalty to Lin Tian develops in stages. He initially resents the humiliation of serving as a mount, but the gains from Lin Tian’s instruction turn that resentment into wholehearted devotion. He believes Lin Tian’s cautious temperament makes him the right master and hopes eventually to earn instruction in the Hongmeng Eight-Nine Profound Art 45.

He respects established prestige, openly admiring the Qilin Clan’s grandeur. This contrasts with the Little Beast Emperor’s contempt for inherited hierarchy. His forgiving disposition also contrasts with his earlier ruthless cultivation practice of killing and fusing other creatures 42 43 46.

Abilities & Skills

Substitute Death with a Clone

Uses disposable clones to sustain travel at speeds infinitely close to light 39.

  • Travels through successive leaps rather than continuous straight-line flight.
  • Each leap sacrifices a clone to the destructive astral winds.
  • The technique protects him from forces that even a peak Supreme Golden Immortal body cannot withstand 39.

Void Traversal with a Clone

Also called Clone Void Traversal, this technique combines his original clone substitution with the Void Traversal Lin Tian made available for study 40 42 45.

  • Sends a clone across the void.
  • Replaces the clone with his true body at the instant it reaches its destination.
  • Removes the need for his previous continuous chain of near-light-speed sacrificial leaps 42.

Bloodline Fusion and Face Unsealing

Ghost Chariot incorporates other creatures into his innate bloodline, accumulating their racial powers but also creating internal rejection and conflict 42.

  • Further advancement requires reconciling these conflicting powers rather than adding more uncontrolled strength.
  • Successful integration condenses his body; complete integration could reduce it below one hundred zhang.
  • Unsealed faces allow their associated divine abilities to be fused.
  • Unlocking all twenty-seven faces is a future possibility he anticipates, not an achievement shown in the supplied chapters 42 45 46.

Spiritual Sense and Insight

Ghost Chariot communicates through spiritual consciousness and is described as able to see into the deepest hearts of living beings 37 39.

  • His spiritual message reaches the surrounding beasts across tens of millions of li when he emerges from his nest 36.
  • He continues using spiritual messages rather than adopting Lin Tian and the Little Beast Emperor’s gesture-based communication 39.

Nine Nether Yin Wind

His flight and later movement demonstrations produce chilling winds associated with the depths of the Nine Nethers 38 42.

  • Rides this wind while carrying his companions westward.
  • After seclusion, the wind spreads across tens of thousands of miles and is perceptible even to Lin Tian’s Nine Nether Vine 38 42.

Formation Refinement

Works alongside the Little Beast Emperor to refine the two innate formations halfway up Mount Buzhou 45 47.

  • Recognizes the potential danger of the formations collapsing.
  • Proceeds after Lin Tian establishes a protective independent world.
  • Completes the assigned refinement after 50,000 years 46 47.

Equipment / Weapons / Items

  • Ghost Chariot Core — His dark, netherworld-shrouded life-bound spiritual treasure. He offers it to Lin Tian upon surrender; Lin Tian subsequently devours it for 35,800 Evolution Points 37 38.

Relationships

  • Lin Tian — Master and cultivation mentor. Defeats Ghost Chariot, accepts his allegiance, teaches him through a Void Traversal array, and protects him during the Chaos Demon God confrontation 37 40 48.
  • Little Beast Emperor — Fellow disciple and traveling companion. Initially rides Ghost Chariot and later kicks him off Mount Buzhou’s halfway platform; a sincere apology reconciles them 38 45 46.
  • Nine-Headed Azure Luan — Respected subordinate who regards Ghost Chariot as a cautious leader despite claiming comparable cultivation and divine abilities. Takes responsibility for coordinating the eastern alliance after Ghost Chariot departs 36 38.
  • Eastern Continent’s Seventy-Two Fierce Beasts — Alliance he founded for collective survival. Their allegiance shifts to Lin Tian, and Ghost Chariot ultimately pledges their service himself 35 36 37.
