The Heavenly Demon Art practiced by the Black-Clad Woman was an extremely domineering demonic cultivation technique. It was powerful and allowed remarkably swift progress, but fell short when it came to tempering the mind.
Liu Xing had slipped through the opening while her mental defenses were down, so it was no wonder the Black-Clad Woman felt something unusual. Even after her wounds healed, she would never be able to forget that strange feeling entirely.
Like a seed, Liu Xing had already been planted in the Black-Clad Woman's heart. When that seed would flower and bear fruit, however, no one could say.
The Black-Clad Woman was unaware of this change within her heart. She merely found it strange. She knew perfectly well that Liu Xing was not a cultivator, and even badly wounded, she should not have been afraid of him. Yet the sight of his sturdy body made her feel an oppressive presence emanating from him, as though she were prey being hunted.
How could I appear so weak before a mere mortal?
Had anyone joked about such a thing to the Black-Clad Woman before, she would certainly have scoffed. Now, however, she was utterly bewildered.
Liu Xing had no idea so many thoughts were running through the Black-Clad Woman's mind. Seeing that she had awakened, he gave her a friendly smile.
Under the old man's strict supervision, Liu Xing had trained his smile to reveal precisely eight teeth. It could certainly be called charming and refined. At the very least, the Black-Clad Woman could sense the innocent goodwill in his smile.
Liu Xing reached out to feel the Black-Clad Woman's forehead and said softly, "Rest properly. Don't be like the old man and fall asleep without ever waking up."
The Black-Clad Woman had been distracted all this time. Finding Liu Xing's words a little strange, she could not help asking instinctively, "The old man?"
Liu Xing casually pointed at the pile of rubble in the corner. "The old man is sleeping over there. He'll never wake up again. Before he fell asleep, he was always passing out now and then, just like you. You're very pretty, and looking at you makes me feel good. I don't want you to end up like the old man."
Only then did the Black-Clad Woman understand why Liu Xing could speak fluent, standard Federation language despite living on this savage garbage planet. Someone had indeed taught him. But why had they lived on such a remote garbage planet?
If the fellow before her had been raised by this so-called old man, it was easy enough to explain why Liu Xing knew nothing of cultivation on this isolated garbage planet. After all, even someone with an Innate Spiritual Root would accomplish little on a planet like this without a skilled teacher's guidance.
Worst of all, she had detonated the False Core in her Cinnabar Field in her desperate gamble. Though the Soul-Congealing Pearl had kept her Primordial Spirit from dispersing, allowing her to condense another False Core, the Spiritual Energy on this garbage planet was so thin that her recovery would be greatly slowed. If she lingered too long, who knew what other dangers might arise?
More importantly, her spaceship had crashed on Connors Star only because the Five Uglies of Meng Mountain had taken advantage of her injuries to fight over that thing. Given its peculiar nature, now that it had been lost on this garbage planet, heaven only knew whether it might simply dissipate!
At the thought of that thing, the Black-Clad Woman gradually regained her composure. After all, this treasure was far too important, both to her and to the Heavenly Demon Sect!
The Black-Clad Woman glanced at Liu Xing. If that fellow really had taken it, how could she get it back?
For some reason, as she looked at Liu Xing, the Black-Clad Woman could not muster any hatred toward him. In the end, she could only smile sweetly and ask, "You were the one who undid my clothes, weren't you?"
The Black-Clad Woman's injuries prevented her from using her Bewitching Art, but her allure was innate. Even an ordinary smile possessed beauty that could topple cities and kingdoms.
Faced with such beauty, Liu Xing felt dazzled and spellbound. He answered honestly, "I undid your clothes. Otherwise, they were wrapped too tightly around you, and I was afraid you wouldn't wake up."
The Black-Clad Woman secretly gritted her teeth. So this fellow really did take liberties with me! At least it was him...
That thought startled the Black-Clad Woman. How can I still have the mind to entertain such foolish thoughts at a time like this?
After finally suppressing her embarrassment, the Black-Clad Woman continued, "When you undid my clothes, did you see a small copper box?"
Liu Xing nodded honestly.
Delighted, the Black-Clad Woman asked, "Where is that Small Copper Box now? Could you give it back to me?"
Seeing the urgency on the Black-Clad Woman's face, Liu Xing reached inside his short jacket and took out the Small Copper Box. "Is this what you're looking for?"
At the sight of the already opened Small Copper Box, the Black-Clad Woman's eyes widened as far as they could, as though she had witnessed something utterly inconceivable.
Only after a long while did the Black-Clad Woman say hoarsely, "The copper box... was opened?"
Liu Xing nodded, looking as though it were perfectly natural.
The Black-Clad Woman reacted like a cat whose tail had been stepped on, shrieking, "How could the copper box have been opened? Who could break the seal on it? Where is the thing inside?..."
The Black-Clad Woman bombarded Liu Xing with questions, looking frantic and furious. Clearly, she had never expected this at all. How could the copper box have been opened?
However poor Liu Xing was at reading people's expressions, even he knew something was wrong now. He could not help asking, "Was the thing inside the copper box that rabbit-like thing?"
The Black-Clad Woman asked urgently, "A rabbit-like thing? You actually compared the Spirit-Devouring Beast to a rabbit? Tell me, where did the Spirit-Devouring Beast go? If we delay too long, I'm afraid it will exhaust its Spiritual Energy and die."
Spirit-Devouring Beast? Was that yellow phantom called a Spirit-Devouring Beast? What was so special about it? In any case, there definitely weren't any creatures like that on Connors Star.
Liu Xing could not help wondering to himself.
