Background / History
Lu Xuanqing spent much of her childhood cultivating behind closed doors and had never had close friends before meeting Liu Xing. She became an important figure among the Heavenly Demon Sect’s younger generation, reaching Late Foundation Establishment before the age of twenty 12 30 39.
The sect entrusted her with returning a captured Spirit-Devouring Beast to its headquarters. Its ability to locate spirit veins and hidden treasures offered a potential remedy for the demonic sects’ poor spiritual resources and increasing suppression by righteous factions. The Five Uglies of Meng Mountain, formerly her subordinates, betrayed her to seize the creature 12 24 43.
Appearance
- Face: Delicate features, a small nose, cherry lips, and phoenix eyes; Liu Xing initially describes her beauty as resembling someone who has stepped out of a painting 11.
- Build and clothing: A graceful, curvaceous figure emphasized by a tight black leather outfit 11.
- Natural allure: Her expressions and movements remain captivating even when her injuries prevent her from activating her bewitching art 12 22.
- Spiritual radiance: Appears surrounded by green light during her first battle and uses green radiance in a later controlled strike against Liu Xing 11 44.
Personality
Lu Xuanqing is intelligent, observant, and guarded. She notices Liu Xing’s discomfort during conversation and changes the subject without embarrassing him. Under pressure from Lu Yangong, she recognizes inconsistencies in his account, gives carefully limited answers, and refuses to discuss sect secrets openly before the Bai Family 41 43.
Her initial treatment of Liu Xing is calculating: she tries to ambush him, then resorts to seduction when her injuries make force ineffective. Once she understands his bond with the Spirit-Devouring Beast, she considers how to keep him under her control. Nevertheless, shared meals, hunts, and mutual support develop into genuine friendship; her concern for him eventually leads her to stage a cruel rejection to protect his life 20 21 24 30 39 44.
She remains committed to immortality despite enjoying their simple life together. She will not abandon cultivation to grow old on Connors Star, but neither does she recklessly attempt a breakthrough there. She acknowledges that her recovery and improved prospects owe much to the Water Vein Spirit Jade rather than talent alone 31 39.
Abilities & Skills
Heavenly Demon Art
- A powerful, domineering demonic cultivation technique that permits unusually rapid progress 22.
- Its weakness is comparatively poor tempering of the mind. During her vulnerable recovery, Liu Xing leaves an emotional impression that she cannot entirely dismiss 22.
- At Late Foundation Establishment, she normally has no need for food or drink; injury and the planet’s thin spiritual energy cause her appetite to return 26.
Heavenly Demon Soul-Confusion
- One of the Cultivation World’s finest bewitching arts, used to charm and manipulate others 12.
- She attempts to enchant Liu Xing after failing to capture him through an ambush. Gathering spiritual energy aggravates her injuries, causing her to collapse before completing her plan 21.
- Her innate attractiveness is distinct from the technique: her hurt expressions during a later disagreement with Liu Xing are genuine, not an application of the art 30.
Spiritual Energy Combat
- Releases green ribbons of spiritual energy during aerial combat. Her attacks initially suppress the surviving Five Uglies but cannot penetrate their protective energy 11.
- Fires arrow-like attacks and redirects them through divine sense to avoid the Icehorn Giant Bear’s freezing breath 36.
- Uses protective spiritual energy. At full strength, she believes ordinary Ice-Horned Bears could not breach her shield, though it cannot protect Liu Xing from the giant bear’s near-absolute-zero cold 32 36.
- Can precisely control a strike’s hidden force: her staged attack makes Liu Xing spit blood without seriously injuring him 44.
Wind-Riding Technique
- Gathers air beneath herself and Liu Xing to carry them into the sky, including more than a hundred meters above a passing beast tide 32.
- Remains capable of wind-riding while injured, keeping pace with Liu Xing’s bounding movement 26.
- After recovering, takes Liu Xing traveling across Connors Star atop the clouds 40.
- Cannot cross the cosmos unaided at her realm, even at full strength 31.
Divine Sense and Cultivation Knowledge
- Detects major disturbances in spiritual energy and notices the approaching Bai fleet before Liu Xing does without the beast’s assistance 34 41.
- Uses private voice transmission to warn Liu Xing not to reveal the Spirit-Devouring Beast 42.
- Explains the creature’s treasure-finding abilities, the difficulty of controlling it, and the costly established method of imprisoning it within a Nascent Soul cultivator 23.
- Knows the Internal Vision Technique, but lacks confidence that it could reveal the mysteries of Liu Xing’s body. Examining another person is far harder than examining herself 30 37.
- Can potentially send a Flying Sword Message to her sect, but fears interception and the possibility of attracting enemies 31 39.
Equipment / Weapons / Items
- Soul-Congealing Pearls — Preserve her primordial spirit after she detonates her incompletely condensed core in a desperate attack. They save her life but do not prevent severe bodily and cultivation damage 20 39.
- Small Copper Box — Carried on a black-bead necklace beneath her clothing. Contains the Spirit-Devouring Beast behind Lu Yangong’s Golden Light Spirit-Locking Formation until Liu Xing breaks the seal and releases it 16 22 43.
- Water Vein Spirit Jade — A brilliant blue, six-sided crystal recovered from the Icehorn Giant Bear’s skull. Repairs her meridians, restores her False Core, and strengthens her cultivation; she initially cannot identify it or detect its full energy 38 39.
- Storage Bag — Used to store the Water Vein Spirit Jade after her recovery 39.
Relationships
- Liu Xing — Rescuer, host, and eventual close friend. Initial manipulation gives way to companionship and genuine concern, although both retain important secrets. Romantic possibilities are suggested, but their bond has not become an established romance 15 24 30 39 40.
- Five Uglies of Meng Mountain — Former subordinates who betray her for the Spirit-Devouring Beast. She kills three; their surviving leader is later killed by Liu Xing 12 15 24.
- Lu Yangong — Sect grandmaster-uncle and elder whose authority she outwardly respects. His arrival with the Bai Family and demands for the beast make her suspicious; he secretly considers killing her to obtain it 42 43.
- Sun Yanbo — Her other grandmaster-uncle. She expects him to help locate her after the crash and feels more sympathetic toward him when he confronts Lu Yangong 31 45.
- Bai Hengqiu — A Golden Core cultivator whose strength leaves her unable to resist openly. She distrusts his invitation to recuperate with the Bai Family, suspecting that he wants the Spirit-Devouring Beast 41 42.
Story Role / Major Arcs
Betrayal and Rescue
- While returning the Spirit-Devouring Beast, Lu Xuanqing kills three of the Five Uglies but suffers worsening injuries. Her spaceship crashes on Connors Star during the confrontation 24.
- She detonates her False Core against the surviving attackers and relies on Soul-Congealing Pearls to keep her spirit intact. She initially feigns unconsciousness to seek another opening, but Liu Xing inadvertently knocks her unconscious while moving her 20.
- After killing the Five Uglies’ leader, Liu Xing carries her to his cave. While she is unconscious, he opens her copper box, releasing the beast into his own body 15 16.
Recovery and Companionship
- Her failed ambush and seduction attempts give way to questioning Liu Xing about the missing treasure. Discovering that the beast has fused with his divine sense transforms her assessment of his value to the sect 20 21 22 24.
- She stays in his cave to heal, teaches him about cultivation society, and joins his hunts. Despite growing friendship, she suspects that he is withholding information 25 26 30.
- After roughly half a month, she is only forty to fifty percent healed and increasingly worried that her expected rescuers have not arrived 30 31.
Icehorn Giant Bear and the Spirit Jade
- She accompanies Liu Xing north to investigate fleeing animals, carrying him above an enormous beast tide 31 32.
- During the giant bear battle, she wounds it with spiritual energy and exploits the opening when Liu Xing throws it into the air 36 37.
- Her examination of its corpse uncovers the Water Vein Spirit Jade. After healing with it, she promises to help Liu Xing enter the outside world and offers the possibility of a non-cultivating role within cultivation society 38 39 40.
Forced Departure
- When the Bai fleet arrives, she invokes the Heavenly Demon Sect’s standing and warns Liu Xing to conceal the beast. Lu Yangong then pressures her with a false account of the sect’s alliance with the Bai Family 41 42 43 47.
- She stages a rejection of Liu Xing, concealing his importance and leaving him a chance to survive, then agrees to accompany Lu Yangong 44.
- Sun Yanbo’s arrival interrupts their departure. She senses the hostile confrontation between her two grandmaster-uncles but cannot observe it directly or intervene 45 48.
- After Sun Yanbo escapes, Lu Yangong conceals the outcome and takes her away with the fleet toward the Ice Phoenix System 49.
Notable Quotes
“Sure. I’ll support you!”
— Promising Liu Xing help once they reach the outside world 39.
“Whatever happens next, you must not reveal anything about the Spirit-Devouring Beast. Leave everything to me.”
— Warning Liu Xing before facing Bai Hengqiu 42.
Trivia
- Her excursion with Liu Xing is her first hunting trip. She enjoys his cooking but refuses Marsh Frogs and Monkey-Face Fungus after hearing how they are obtained 26 27 30.
- The Water Vein Spirit Jade continues shining through her leather clothing when kept against her body, unlike Liu Xing’s spirit treasures, whose radiance fades when he handles them 39.
