In the Heavenly Court, along a palace corridor.
After telling the Yang siblings how to rescue Yao Ji, Gungun returned to his true form and came back here. As he walked along, a Divine General suddenly approached him and reported, "Your Majesty, General Tianpeng has brought the spirit of Weak Water back to the Heavenly River. He also brought back two fox spirits."
Hearing this, Gungun, who had been watching the goldfish in the lakes on either side of the corridor, stopped and asked the Bear Race Divine General before him, "Fox spirits?"
"Yes. Apparently, one is called Fifth Brother and the other Fox Sister. After the general caught them committing crimes, they said they wanted to..." The Divine General seemed somewhat afraid to finish.
"Wanted to what? Out with it." Gungun hated it most when people stopped halfway through a sentence. Making a bear wait? This bear disliked waiting. Whatever they had to say, they should say it all in one breath.
"Yes, Your Majesty. Those two fox spirits said they wanted to accuse the Lunar Star Lord Chang'e of sheltering the Yang siblings and even rescuing Yang Jian, a wanted fugitive of the Heavenly Court." At Gungun's urging, the Divine General hurriedly finished his report, then lowered his head and awaited the Heavenly Emperor's orders.
"Chang'e... rescued Yang Jian?" Gungun froze and blinked.
"Yes. Apparently, Yang Jian had an accident when he first began practicing the Cloud-Riding Art. Immortal Maiden Chang'e happened to see him and saved him. Afterward, they spoke for a while, and she learned who he was. She knew he was a fugitive wanted by the Heavenly Court, but did nothing about it and even helped him return safely to the ground."
This plot... is pretty similar to the Lotus Lantern prequel, Gungun muttered inwardly.
